In his view, the destinations with the best prospects are, in general, domestic ones, particularly the coasts and islands; and, internationally, the Caribbean, European capitals and city breaks, the United States, Canada and emerging markets such as Slovenia, Albania and Turkey.

However, he observes “more cautious behaviour” among consumers, with greater price sensitivity and a growing tendency to delay purchasing decisions. Although early bookings began with high expectations, in recent weeks there has been a certain slowdown in bookings, particularly in some European source markets, “which is leading to a greater emphasis on marketing campaigns and last-minute promotions,” he added.

This intensification of promotional activity by agencies, tour operators and tourism distribution groups aims to ‘stimulate demand and ensure high occupancy rates for the peak summer months’, although the situation varies greatly depending on destinations, dates and products, he noted. In some sun and beach destinations, he warns of price adjustments compared to the exceptionally high levels reached in recent years.

“This does not necessarily mean a generalised drop in prices, but rather the emergence of discounts, early-booking benefits and one-off offers in certain destinations and holiday packages,” he clarified.
The vice-president of the Tourism Board, Santiago Vallejo, also told EFE that they are forecasting a good summer, in which “we will surely come close to breaking last year’s record, but above all with foreign tourists”.

According to their data, international markets are performing ‘quite well’, with growth from the UK (5%), Germany, France, Portugal, Italy and the Netherlands, but ‘there is a slowdown in bookings because, in the current geopolitical climate, people are waiting to see what happens’. Some operators have itineraries for overseas destinations, such as the Caribbean, which involve risks and guarantees regarding aircraft that need to be filled; consequently, they are making offers in the domestic source market not only for Spain but also for the rest of the world.

However, he notes, tourists arriving in Spain have already purchased their package in their home country and do not need to be offered any deals. For the president of the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (Ceav), Carlos Garrido, bookings are behaving in a manner very similar to that of 2025.

Travel agencies ‘are not seeing any price fluctuations in domestic tourism because demand is holding up quite well’, with travellers choosing both domestic trips (coastal destinations and islands) and medium-haul trips ‘in a manner very similar to that of 2025, which was a record year’, he told EFE. “We are keeping a close eye on last-minute bookings, which we believe will also perform quite well this year, according to our forecasts,” he said.

Tour operators such as Soltour and Viajes El Corte Inglés, among others, have bolstered their summer season line-up with ‘Last Minute’ promotional campaigns, which will run throughout the summer, and ‘Special Days’ to encourage bookings during June, respectively. Soltour’s campaign includes Caribbean destinations such as the Dominican Republic and Mexico; emerging destinations such as Albania, Montenegro, Slovenia and Cape Verde; as well as domestic offers in the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands; and, in addition to package deals, it offers special discounts for ‘Hotel Only’ options.

Among the offers included in “Special Days” are sun and beach destinations with 10% discounts on the mainland coast, such as the Andalusian, Mediterranean or Catalan coasts, as well as packages to both the Balearics and the Canary Islands combining flights and hotels. As for cruises, whilst Vallejo points to a slight dip in sales due to recent outbreaks of hantavirus and gastroenteritis from which the sector has not yet recovered and is resorting to special offers, Gutiérrez states that bookings “remain very buoyant”. The outlook is ‘particularly favourable’ and the sector is forecasting a new record due to strong demand for itineraries in the Mediterranean, the Greek islands, Northern Europe and the Caribbean, according to Gutiérrez.

The president of the Association of Balearic Travel Agents, Pedro Fiol, recently told the Bulletin that is cheaper…

[2
1254,1391,647,15613,598,605,599,600,17152,2498,17,17151,603,357,17153
post-35745","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-spain","tag-balearics","tag-british-tourists","tag-canary-islands","tag-caribbean","tag-holiday","tag-latest-headlines","tag-majorca","tag-mallorca","tag-package-holiday","tag-prices","tag-spain","tag-special-offers","tag-summer","tag-travel","tag-travel-discounts
["GET
