{"id":36508,"date":"2026-06-08T01:48:47","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T01:48:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/36508\/"},"modified":"2026-06-08T01:48:47","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T01:48:47","slug":"found-those-comments-to-be-in-very-poor-taste-interim-barcelona-president-reacts-to-atleticos-meltdown-tweets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/36508\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Found those comments to be in very poor taste&#8217; &#8211; Interim Barcelona president reacts to Atletico&#8217;s meltdown tweets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barcelona\u2019s pursuit of Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez has become one of the biggest talking points of the summer, and club officials are clearly unimpressed with how the situation has been handled in the Spanish capital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latest chapter in the growing tension between the two clubs came after Atletico Madrid <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/atletico-madrid-attempt-to-mock-barcelona-with-bizarre-statements-over-offer-for-julian-alvarez\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">published a series of social media posts<\/a> mocking Barcelona\u2019s reported interest in the Argentine forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The posts featured edited images of players such as Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Pedri wearing Atletico shirts, accompanied by humorous messages that attracted attention across Spanish football.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While the posts generated plenty of reactions online, they did not go down well at Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p>Yuste makes Barcelona\u2019s position clear<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking publicly about the controversy, interim Barcelona president Rafa Yuste made it clear that he viewed Atletico\u2019s actions as crossing a line and failing to reflect the standards expected between two major clubs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/tottenham-hotspur-fc-v-atletico-de-madrid-uefa-champions-league-2025-26-round-of-16-second-leg-1024x.jpeg\" alt=\"Julian Alvarez, Atletico Madrid player\" class=\"wp-image-201322\"  \/>Barcelona\u2019s interest in Alvarez has caused a reaction from Atletico. Our sporting policy remains unchanged.
