Thomas M\u00fcller has achieved almost everything a footballer can achieve in his extraordinary career, yet the long-serving Bayern star is not always mentioned in the same breath as the greatest names of his generation. For Spain\u2019s exceptional talent Lamine Yamal, that is a mistake. The 18-year-old has now explicitly acknowledged M\u00fcller as an underrated player<\/p>\n

With more than 35 titles to his name, Thomas M\u00fcller is one of the most successful footballers of the modern era. The 2014 world champion won numerous national and international trophies with FC Bayern, including the Champions League, the Club World Cup and the German championship on several occasions<\/p>\n

Even after leaving Munich in the summer of 2025, the attacking player continued his success story, winning the Canadian Cup with the Vancouver Whitecaps last season and adding another title to his impressive collection<\/p>\n

Despite this extraordinary CV, M\u00fcller is often not put on a par with players such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or other global superstars. One reason for this is probably his unusual style of play. The former Bayern professional never impressed with spectacular dribbling or exceptional athleticism, but above all with game intelligence, spatial awareness and efficiency<\/p>\n

The FC Barcelona attacker published a new video on YouTube<\/a> in which he answered questions from fans. Among other things, the Spanish international was asked which footballer he considers to be particularly underrated<\/p>\n

Alongside his team-mate Gerard Mart\u00edn, the name Thomas M\u00fcller came up surprisingly quickly. \u201eHe was certainly underestimated in his time,\u201c explained Yamal<\/p>\n

The statement certainly attracts attention, as it comes from a player who, despite his young age, is already considered one of the greatest talents in world soccer and is regularly compared to the biggest names in the sport<\/p>\n

Yamal\u2019s praise once again shows the respect M\u00fcller enjoys within the soccer world. Even though the former Bayern star rarely received the greatest media attention, his importance is regularly highlighted by players and coaches<\/p>\n

His unique style of play in particular made him one of the most important players at FC Bayern and in the German national team for many years. The term \u201eRaumdeuter\u201c, coined by M\u00fcller himself, has long since become part of the soccer vocabulary<\/p>\n
