{"id":38177,"date":"2026-06-10T17:21:19","date_gmt":"2026-06-10T17:21:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/38177\/"},"modified":"2026-06-10T17:21:19","modified_gmt":"2026-06-10T17:21:19","slug":"spain-and-the-uk-sign-the-annual-bilateral-transport-dialogue-for-safer-and-more-sustainable-transport-better-connected-transport-is-key-for-citizens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/38177\/","title":{"rendered":"Spain and the UK sign the Annual Bilateral Transport Dialogue for \u2018safer and more sustainable\u2019 transport: \u201cbetter-connected transport is key for citizens\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Spain.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spain<\/a> and the UK signed the Annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Transport.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Transport<\/a> Dialogue between the two countries on Wednesday, which aims to contribute to \u2018safer and more sustainable\u2019 transport, according to an announcement by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/British+Embassy.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">British Embassy<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Madrid.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Madrid<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The document lays the foundations for dialogue between the two countries on rail transport, active mobility and decarbonisation, and has been developed on the basis of the framework agreement reached in September 2025 between the Spanish Prime Minister, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Pedro+S%C3%A1nchez.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pedro S\u00e1nchez<\/a>, and the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer.<\/p>\n<p>Spain\u2019s Secretary General for Land Transport, Roc\u00edo B\u00e1guena, and the UK\u2019s Minister of State for Local Transport, Lilian Greenwood, have signed the agreement, which marks \u201cthe start of a structured and ongoing exchange between the two countries\u201d, according to the embassy.<\/p>\n<p>The embassy reports that the UK-Spain Transport Dialogue will be reviewed annually to monitor progress and extend cooperation to new areas, and highlights that the two governments \u201cshare the conviction that safer, cleaner and better-connected transport is key for citizens\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Roc\u00edo B\u00e1guena has emphasised the importance of these forums for identifying new opportunities for cooperation and sharing experiences between administrations and operators, particularly in the rail sector.<\/p>\n<p>For her part, Lilian Greenwood described the agreement as \u201ca real step forward in integrating rail, active mobility and decarbonisation into a single, practical joint work programme.
