Real Madrid has sent a formal contract offer to Bernardo Silva<\/a> according to Fabrizio Romano<\/a>, with AS having explained<\/a> that he is a top priority for Jose Mourinho. <\/p>\n

Both Romano and the Spanish newspaper cited anonymous sources.<\/p>\n

\u201cReal Madrid [have] sent [an] official proposal to Bernardo Silva, [they\u2019re in] advanced talk[s] to try [and] sign the midfielder,\u201d tweeted Romano on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cDeal underway with [Jose] Mourinho<\/a> pushing and Real confident to anticipate Bar\u00e7a and Atletico. He\u2019s a priority for JM,\u201d the Italian added.<\/p>\n

Silva\u2019s Manchester City terms expire on June 30, and it has long been known that he will depart the Etihad after nine successful years there. <\/p>\n

They yielded six English top flight titles and a Champions League crown in 2023, but Silva feels it\u2019s time to move on seeking a fresh challenge.<\/p>\n

As Romano mentioned, FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have been strongly linked to the 31-year-old.<\/p>\n

Bar\u00e7a head coach Hansi Flick was reported as having given his thumbs up<\/a> to a move for Silva, who the Blaugrana tried and failed to land in 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n

In recent weeks, however, Silva\u2019s salary demands are believed to be a sticking point at Bar\u00e7a, which also has seven midfielders for three midfield positions on its books already. <\/p>\n

With this in mind, Madrid might have improved on the Catalans\u2019 offer. <\/p>\n

Silva is incoming Real Madrid coach Mourinho\u2019s \u201cpreferred\u201d new signing<\/p>\n

While Mourinho was reported as being \u2018very upset\u2019 by a formal bid for Julian Alvarez, Silva is said to be his \u201cpreferred first signing\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mourinho was announced as Madrid\u2019s new head coach<\/a> by President Florentino Perez last week, as Perez sought re-election.<\/p>\n

Perez\u2019s rule was extended by beating Enrique Riquelme at the polls on Sunday. And though Alvaro Arbeloa has already been dismissed, there is no official announcement on Mourinho yet despite Benfica bidding him farewell and Mourinho doing likewise to the Lisbon giant and its fans.<\/p>\n

If Silva agrees to personal terms with Real Madrid, he could occupy the central and attacking midfield roles but also the right wing.
