A teenager died while on holiday in Spain with his girlfriend after a suspected reaction to vape oil, his family has said. <\/p>\n
Harry Whitton, 18, from Dundee, died in Benidorm after collapsing while out for lunch. <\/p>\n
His father, Chris, wrote on Facebook following a post mortem: \u2018His throat has then constricted causing him problems breathing.<\/p>\n
\u2018He also vomited which, in his struggle to breathe, has aspirated into his lungs.\u2019<\/p>\n
Chris said the family suspected the reaction was caused by his vape.<\/p>\n

Start your day informed with Metro’s News Updates<\/a> newsletter or get Breaking News<\/a> alerts the moment it happens. <\/p>\n The dad continued: \u2018We think it was his vape; he had recently bought a vape oil in Benidorm and it is the only difference between what he has been using and what [his girlfriend] was using.\u2019<\/p>\n He added: \u2018If one thing comes from the loss of our boy Harry, it has to be us highlighting the dangers of using vapes\/oils etc\u2026 There are still far too many unknowns about these vape oils and no long term studies have been done on their effects.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t His mum Debbie Bell told\u00a0Metro\u00a0the family would be \u2018having the vape oil tested\u2019 for \u2018contained substance\u2019 once they are back home in Scotland<\/a>.<\/p>\n In a tribute on Facebook, she said the family\u2019s \u2018hearts are shattered\u2019 and their world \u2018turned upside down\u2019.<\/p>\n Debbie added: \u2018Our little drummer boy has passed away while living his best life on holiday with the love of his life.<\/p>\n \u2018We were all so proud of all that Harry had achieved, and we were all waiting to see how the next chapter would unfold in his future.<\/p>\n \u2018As a family we are here in Spain doing everything we can to get our boy home! We are together & supporting each other.\u2019<\/p>\n The family has created a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the 18-year-old to be repatriated.<\/p>\n In a statement on their GoFundMe page, the family said: \u2018We should be arranging his surprise 18th, instead we will be home to arrange a funeral. It\u2019s all just very unimaginable & feels very unreal.<\/p>\n \u2018We want to share with you all just how loved and special our boy truly was.
