{"id":39608,"date":"2026-06-13T10:22:26","date_gmt":"2026-06-13T10:22:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/39608\/"},"modified":"2026-06-13T10:22:26","modified_gmt":"2026-06-13T10:22:26","slug":"mclaren-break-second-f1-curfew-at-barcelona-gp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/39608\/","title":{"rendered":"McLaren break second F1 curfew at Barcelona GP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">McLaren has broken curfew at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/series\/single-seater\/formula-1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formula 1<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.formula1.com\/en\/racing\/2026\/barcelona-catalunya\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Barcelona Catalunya Grand Prix<\/a> for the second consecutive race, following issues for the team in Monaco. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following its disastrous showing in Monte Carlo, where the reigning world champion retired during the race, McLaren looked more competitive during practice on Friday.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oscar Piastri finished second in FP1, with Norris then topping FP2, in a major confidence boost for the Woking marque. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But this would be tempered on Friday evening when McLaren confirmed that it planned to break curfew to work on both drivers\u2019 cars ahead of final practice and qualifying on Saturday.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This marks the second consecutive curfew break for McLaren, having also done this in Monaco following Norris\u2019 on track stoppage on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team did not reveal any details behind the need to break curfew, labelling the requirement to do this as \u201cprecautionary work\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>McLaren call curfew break \u201cprecautionary\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMcLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team will today use the second of its four curfew exemptions within Restricted Period Three to carry out precautionary work on both MCL40s\u201d, the statement read. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team will replace permissible key components to help improve the robustness of the installation and integration of the power unit on both cars.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parc Ferme curfew breaks are tightly controlled by the FIA, with teams permitted four across the year.
