{"id":4231,"date":"2026-04-14T10:16:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T10:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/4231\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T10:16:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T10:16:09","slug":"xi-calls-for-closer-ties-with-spain-in-face-of-global-chaos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/4231\/","title":{"rendered":"Xi calls for closer ties with Spain in face of global &#8216;chaos&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>China&#8217;s President Xi Jinping warned against a return to the &#8216;law of the jungle&#8217; and called for closer economic ties with Spain after talks with visiting Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in Beijing &#8211; Copyright AFP Pedro PARDO<\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s President Xi Jinping warned against a return to the \u201claw of the jungle\u201d in international relations and called for closer economic ties with Spain as he met Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Tuesday, according to Chinese state media.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting in Beijing came on the second day of Sanchez\u2019s visit as he seeks to position Spain as a bridge between China and the European Union, whose relations with the United States are under strain.<\/p>\n<p>Xi told Sanchez the two countries should strengthen cooperation in the face of global \u201cchaos and turmoil\u201d and \u201ca contest between justice and force\u201d, according to a readout of the talks from state broadcaster CCTV.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth China and Spain are principled countries that stand for justice.
