{"id":43175,"date":"2026-06-19T17:25:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-19T17:25:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/43175\/"},"modified":"2026-06-19T17:25:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-19T17:25:11","slug":"la-liga-chief-responds-to-barcelonas-letter-asking-for-punishment-against-florentino-perez","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/43175\/","title":{"rendered":"La Liga chief responds to Barcelona&#8217;s letter asking for punishment against Florentino Perez"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mundodeportivo.com\/futbol\/fc-barcelona\/20260619\/1004197078\/tebas-responde-carta-barca-e-insiste-denuncias-laliga-madrid.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Mundo Deportivo<\/a>, La Liga president Javier Tebas has responded to the letter sent by Barcelona acting president Rafa Yuste earlier this week. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/confirmed-barcelona-call-on-la-liga-rfef-and-cta-to-take-action-against-florentino-perez\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">In their letter<\/a>, the Catalan club urged La Liga, the RFEF and the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) to defend the reputation of Spanish football institutions and take legal and disciplinary action against Florentino Perez over comments made on 12 and 13 May.<\/p>\n<p>Tebas backs Bar\u00e7a\u2019s position<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the contents of the letter, Tebas shares Barcelona\u2019s concerns regarding public statements that could damage the integrity, honour and prestige of the institutions and competitions overseen by those bodies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The La Liga president stressed that accusations made without proven evidence are unacceptable, referring specifically to claims concerning the alleged purchase of referees linked to the Negreira case, an issue that Perez and Real Madrid have repeatedly raised.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/fc-barcelona-v-real-madrid-cf-laliga-ea-sports-2-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"President Elected of FC Barcelona Joan Laporta\" class=\"wp-image-199328\"  \/>Tebas has backed Barcelona\u2019s position. (Photo by Alex Caparros\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tebas expressed his agreement with the concerns raised by Yuste and pointed out that La Liga has already acted on several occasions against Real Madrid in defence of the competition\u2019s reputation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He highlighted previous complaints filed against the club over content broadcast on Real Madrid TV and recalled that La Liga had lodged a complaint with the RFEF\u2019s Competition Committee. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After that case was dismissed, the league pursued further appeals before the Administrative Sports Tribunal (TAD) and through the administrative courts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Liga also took action in 2025 when Real Madrid and its board publicly called for reforms to the refereeing system and demanded the removal of officials who had been linked to the Negreira era within the CTA.<\/p>\n<p>Commitment to the judicial process<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/sportel-monaco-sports-media-and-media-convention-day-2-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Javier Tebas, La Liga president\" class=\"wp-image-173482\"  \/>Closely following the judicial progress in the Negreira case.
