{"id":4322,"date":"2026-04-14T12:19:12","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T12:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/4322\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T12:19:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T12:19:12","slug":"uefa-declare-barcelona-complaint-over-refereeing-in-atletico-madrid-clash-inadmissible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/4322\/","title":{"rendered":"UEFA declare Barcelona complaint over refereeing in Atletico Madrid clash &#8216;inadmissible&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UEFA has dealt a setback to FC Barcelona after its Disciplinary Committee ruled the club\u2019s complaint \u201cinadmissible\u201d regarding the controversial refereeing in their match against Atletico Madrid.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/official-barcelona-file-complaint-with-uefa-over-controversial-refereeing-in-atletico-clash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">The Blaugrana filed a formal complaint to UEFA last week<\/a>, highlighting irregular officiating from referee Istvan Kovacs in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at the Spotify Camp Nou.<\/p>\n<p>At the centre of the complaint was the controversial incident involving Atletico Madrid defender Marc Pubill. <\/p>\n<p>In the second half, the Spanish right-back handled the ball inside the box following a pass from goalkeeper Juan Musso. <\/p>\n<p>Bar\u00e7a argued it should have been a penalty and a second yellow for Pubill, while both the referee and Atletico Madrid maintained that the ball was not yet in play.<\/p>\n<p>The decision caused significant frustration within the Bar\u00e7a dressing room, as Hansi Flick had already indicated immediately after the match. <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/barcelona-president-confirms-club-will-report-refereeing-vs-atletico-to-uefa-happened-too-many-times\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">The club\u2019s senior officials were equally unhappy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"728\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/fc-barcelona-v-atletico-de-madrid-uefa-champions-league-2025-26-quarter-final-first-leg-6-1-1024x728.jpeg\" alt=\"Referee Istvan Kovacs\" class=\"wp-image-196502\"  \/>Barcelona were far from happy with referee Istvan Kovacs in the first leg.
