Another round of national championship winners has been crowned. This Wednesday, many of Europes’ top nations have had their riders race against the clock and we have some winners such as Ethan Hayter<\/a> in Great Britain; R\u00e9mi Cavagna<\/a> in France and Pablo Castrillo<\/a> in Spain.The British titles have gone to Zoe B\u00e4ckstedt in the women’s elite race<\/a> and Ben Wiggins in the men’s under-23 route. Wiggins had a smaller course, but rode at an average speed that was higher than the men’s elite winner. But this title was taken by Ethan Hayter. The Soudal – Quick-Step rider beat Coonnor Swift and Josh Charlton of INEOS’ elite and development teams respectively to defend his title successfully in Lampeter – over 38 kilometers.<\/p>\n

In Spain it was Pablo Castrillo to take the title in Sabi\u00f1\u00e3nigo, winning with a very small margin in the 30-kilometer course. The gaps were very small amongst many riders, and once again provided a surprise victory. After Abel Balderstone’s astonishing win 12 months ago; it was Castrillo to take the win this time around, beating Xabier Mikel Azparren by a mere 4 seconds and UAE Team Emirates – XRG’s Pablo Torres by 15 seconds. David de la Cruz and Ra\u00fal Garc\u00eda Pierna also finished within 25 seconds.<\/p>\n

In France it was R\u00e9mi Cavagna of Groupama – FDJ United who took the victory, an important one for the specialist. In La Tour-du-Pin, it was perhaps his best performance of the year, beating former winner Bruno Armirail by 49 seconds in the 29-kilometer long course. Teamate Ewen Costiou rode to third place to round up the podium for Groupama.<\/p>\n

Success for INEOS\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the Czech Republic the in-form Mathias Vacek dominated the 48-kilometer long race, one of the longest of the day. He beat Jakub Otruba and Petr Kelemen. In Poland Michal Kwiatkowski took the title for Netcompany INEOS, beating by a comfortable margin Filip Maciejuk and Piotr Pekala; whilst in Norway his teammate Tobias Foss beat Andreas Leknessund and Kasper Haugland in Stravanger.<\/p>\n
