Collins of Seville, Ohio, as the suspect in the cold case that occurred in February 2000, according to the Summit County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Anthony D. Collins\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/2YXOR4YRSJAYLKQJ35QAVY7GKI.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>Anthony D. Collins(WOIO)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Summit County Prosecutor\u2019s Office said the incident occurred on Feb. 15, 2000, when a 26-year-old woman was raped by an unknown man in Green, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A sexual assault collection kit was completed and the Summit County Prosecutor\u2019s Office started an investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Investigators concluded the assault occurred inside the victim\u2019s car at an unknown location in or near Green.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Detectives were not able to identify the suspect at the time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The kit was submitted to BCI, where the DNA sample was detected but could not be linked to any suspect, the Summit County Sheriff\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In January 2026, BCI identified Collins as the suspect after the DNA sample was uploaded to the FBI\u2019s Combined DNA Index System.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Summit County Prosecutor\u2019s Office said the investigation was reopened by the Summit County Sheriff\u2019s Office Detective Bureau.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Both the initial and new investigations were reviewed by the Summit County Prosecutor\u2019s Office, and criminal charges were filed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Collins was arrested Thursday and charged with rape, a first-degree felony.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He is being held in the Summit County Jail.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WOIO.
