Liverpool <\/a>have been offered an encouraging fitness update on Victor Munoz just over a week after signing the Spain international. The 22-year-old winger sealed his \u00a334.5 million move to Anfield<\/a> on June 18 in a deal that accelerated at pace, seeing Liverpool beat Newcastle United to his signature.<\/p>\n Due to his involvement in the tournament, Munoz <\/a>has yet to perform his media duties with the Reds, but has already become the first signing of the Andoni Iraola<\/a> era at Anfield.<\/p>\n Munoz was undergoing a specific individual plan to get fit for the World Cup. He was fit enough to be named on the bench for Spain’s goalless draw with Cape Verde in their group opener, but missed the 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n However, he suffered an injury setback at the World Cup after aggravating a muscle problem that he had picked up in the days leading up to the tournament in North America.<\/p>\n A statement on Munoz from the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) medical team said: “During the planned and individualised recovery process, an additional muscle injury has occurred that will delay his return to competition. His availability for the upcoming matches will depend on the evolution of his symptoms.”<\/p>\n De la Fuente has now given a positive update regarding Munoz’s fitness and hinted is set to play an important role in the tournament. That suggests the youngster could return quicker than originally thought.<\/p>\n \u201cVictor has had a small muscular problem (oedema) in another area.
