{"id":48594,"date":"2026-07-01T13:22:18","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T13:22:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/48594\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T13:22:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T13:22:18","slug":"spain-records-over-1000-heat-related-deaths-in-june","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/48594\/","title":{"rendered":"Spain records over 1,000 heat-related deaths in June"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">The Carlos III Health Institute in Madrid, Spain, said 1,028 people in the country died from heat-related causes during the heatwave that hit Europe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The research institute on Wednesday stated that more than 1,000 heat-related deaths were recorded in June, compared with the 407 deaths linked to heat recorded in June 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an update on Wednesday, Spain\u2019s State Meteorological Agency disclosed that June 2026 was the second-warmest June on record.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The weather agency noted that the month recorded an average temperature 3.2\u00b0C above normal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It added that the first half of 2026 was the hottest on record in Spain, noting that the average temperature was 1.6\u00b0C above normal levels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe first half of 2026 becomes the warmest for the whole of Spain since records began, with a temperature 1.6 \u00b0C above normal.
