{"id":49440,"date":"2026-07-02T21:37:24","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T21:37:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/49440\/"},"modified":"2026-07-02T21:37:24","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T21:37:24","slug":"la-liga-president-hints-at-barcelonas-return-to-11-rule-weve-informed-them","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/49440\/","title":{"rendered":"La Liga president hints at Barcelona&#8217;s return to 1:1 rule: &#8216;We\u2019ve informed them&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barcelona\u2019s ability to operate freely in the transfer market has once again become a talking point after Javier Tebas suggested the club may finally be approaching compliance with La Liga\u2019s coveted 1:1 rule.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking a day after attending <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/joan-laporta-begins-new-barcelona-era-with-strong-message-we-have-a-team-that-inspires\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Joan Laporta\u2019s inauguration ceremony<\/a>, the La Liga president offered an encouraging assessment of Bar\u00e7a\u2019s current financial position, while stopping short of confirming that the Catalan side have definitively regained full spending capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Tebas offers optimism\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Questions surrounding <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/tebas-praises-barcelonas-financial-recovery-have-nothing-to-envy-from-any-other-club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Barcelona\u2019s Financial Fair Play status<\/a> have dominated several transfer windows, but Tebas hinted that the situation has improved significantly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asked whether Barcelona currently satisfy the requirements needed to operate under the 1:1 rule, the La Liga chief chose his words carefully.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think so. Let Bar\u00e7a say so. We\u2019ve informed them; they will know. (Photo by Arnold Jerocki\/Getty Images For Sportel)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among them are the \u20ac14 million generated through the <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/barcelona-secure-e14-million-income-through-spotify-camp-nou-vip-seat-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">partial sale of VIP seats at the renovated Spotify Camp Nou<\/a> and the permanent transfer of Ansu Fati to Monaco.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Within the club, these transactions are considered crucial in helping Barcelona close the financial year with healthier numbers.<\/p>\n<p>How Barcelona could finance a major transfer<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The debate surrounding Barcelona\u2019s finances has intensified because of reports linking the club with high-profile additions, <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/joan-laporta-willing-to-fight-until-the-end-to-bring-atletico-madrid-superstar-to-barcelona\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">particularly Julian Alvarez<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tebas used the opportunity to explain how Financial Fair Play calculations function when clubs make expensive signings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using a hypothetical example, the La Liga president pointed out that transfer fees are amortised over the length of a player\u2019s contract rather than being recorded entirely in a single financial year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen you sign a player, if you pay 100 million, it is spread over the contract period.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/sportel-monaco-sports-media-and-media-convention-day-2-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Javier Tebas, La Liga president\" class=\"wp-image-173482\"  \/>Tebas also shed light on how Barcelona can sign Julian Alvarez.
