Accounting for 15.5 per cent of all bookings made over the last seven days, the Balearic Islands remain Spain’s third most popular destination, behind Catalonia (20.8 per cent) and Andalusia (17.6 per cent).

21.1 per cent of this week’s bookings were made between one and two months in advance (between 31 and 60 days before travel), 12.2 per cent more than three months in advance, and 17.2 per cent were made between 15 and 30 days before travel. So-called last-minute bookings (made the day before or on the day of travel) accounted for 9.9 per cent.

Of the bookings made in the country via this platform, 52.7 per cent were made by couples, and half of travellers (52.2 per cent) booked stays of between two and five nights. Spaniards lead the way in terms of demand, accounting for 48.6 per cent of all tourist bookings made this week, followed by the British (21.6 per cent) and Germans (4.5 per cent).

Spain is set to welcome 43 million tourists between June and September, a 6 per cent increase on the same months in 2025, with spending totalling 64,000 million euros – a figure 10 per cent higher than last year – according to a statement made on Monday by the Minister for Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu.

He also highlighted that, during this period, inland regions and the so-called ‘Green Spain’ will see stronger growth than the six most popular autonomous communities for tourism, whilst emphasising the strong performance of the hotel, campsite and rural tourism sectors. Furthermore, one factor noted by Hereu for the summer season is the phenomenon of last-minute bookings – already evident in April and May – which could lead to an upward revision of some forecasts.

In contrast to the highly uncertain forecasts made at the end of March as a result of the conflict in the Middle East, just before Easter, the minister has now emphasised that the sector is facing “a clearer picture of the situation”, with “more consistent” data.

According to the Minister for Tourism, the industry has weathered the conflict in the Middle East with great resilience, just as it did during other international events, such as the Covid-19 pandemic or Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Regarding the much-discussed figure of 100 million tourists, the minister reiterated that this is not the main objective, but rather a consequence of the sector’s growth: “We are not obsessed with it.” However, he stated that if this trend continues, it will be “likely” that Spain will reach this record figure.

Between January and May, Spain welcomed a total of 36.8 million international visitors, 3.2 per cent more than in the first five months of 2025, with spending totalling 50,257 million euros (+7.8 per cent). Hereu described these figures as evidence of “remarkably robust performance” by the industry.
In particular, the months of April and May – against the backdrop of the war in the Middle East – have seen growth exceeding the Ministry’s expectations, as acknowledged by Hereu.

Holiday bookings for the Balearics increased by 18.9 per cent over the past seven days compared with the…

[2
1254,3653,1391,598,605,599,600,17,12679,603,357,2879,1259,4871,27
post-50903","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-spain","tag-balearics","tag-bookings","tag-british-tourists","tag-holiday","tag-latest-headlines","tag-majorca","tag-mallorca","tag-spain","tag-spending","tag-summer","tag-travel","tag-ukraine","tag-united-kingdom","tag-usa-and-iran","tag-war
["GET
