{"id":51688,"date":"2026-07-07T17:41:18","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T17:41:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/51688\/"},"modified":"2026-07-07T17:41:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T17:41:18","slug":"this-is-the-profile-of-the-1-1-million-applicants-for-extraordinary-regularisation-in-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/51688\/","title":{"rendered":"This is the profile of the 1.1 million applicants for extraordinary regularisation in Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t<a href=\"#over-50-of-applications-already-processed\">Over 50% of applications already processed<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"#latin-america-and-north-africa-the-main-regions-of-origin\">Latin America and North Africa: the main regions of origin<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"#age-and-gender\">Age and gender<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"#method-of-submission\">Method of submission<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"#160-000-new-social-security-registrations\">160,000 new Social Security registrations<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"#education-and-language-proficiency\">Education and language proficiency<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The breakdown of data relating to applicants for the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atalayar.com\/en\/articulo\/society\/colombians-and-moroccans-are-the-two-main-nationalities-among-applicants-for-the-extraordinary-regularisation-scheme\/20260701140800227338.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">extraordinary regularisation scheme<\/a> launched by the Spanish Government last April provides an interesting average profile of the foreign nationals seeking to regularise their residence in Spain.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, a quick overview reveals that applicants are predominantly male, from Latin America or North Africa, of working age, and with advanced educational and language skills.<\/p>\n<p>Over 50% of applications already processed<\/p>\n<p>The figures provided by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inclusion.gob.es\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration<\/a> regarding the extraordinary regularisation process launched between 16 April and 30 June are striking.<\/p>\n<p>In total, 1,174,978 applications have been received, far exceeding the forecasts made for this process. Pictured: members of the Venezuelan community in Spain \u2013 REUTERS\/SUSANA VERA<\/p>\n<p>Latin America and North Africa: the main regions of origin<\/p>\n<p>As regards the geographical profile of applicants, it is confirmed that Colombians and Moroccans are, in percentage terms, the two largest nationalities among applicants.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, 25.9% of applicants are Colombian nationals \u2013 that is, 304,319 people \u2013 whilst 13.3% are Moroccan, totalling 156,272.<\/p>\n<p>The other nationalities with a significant presence amongst applicants for extraordinary regularisation are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>\tVenezuela (11.8%)<br \/>\n\tPeru (8.8%)<br \/>\n\tHonduras (4.8%)<br \/>\n\tParaguay (3.8%)<br \/>\n\tAlgeria (3.4%)<br \/>\n\tSenegal (2.9%)<br \/>\n\tPakistan (2.5%)<br \/>\n\tArgentina (2.3%)<br \/>\n\tOthers (20.5%)<\/p>\n<p>Clearly, the regions of the world with the highest representation in regularisation applications have been Central and South America (67%, for historical and linguistic reasons); Africa (22.9%, with a significant proportion from the northern part of the region, including Morocco and Algeria); Asia (8.3%); and non-EU Europe (1.1%).<\/p>\n<p>In terms of where applications were submitted, the highest percentages correspond to the major cities and the Levantine region:<\/p>\n<p>\tMadrid (17.23%)<br \/>\n\tBarcelona (16.36%)<br \/>\n\tValencia (6.38%)<br \/>\n\tAlicante (6.23%)<br \/>\n\tMurcia (3.85%)<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, a total of 452 applications (139 appointments allocated) were processed from Ceuta, and 743 (144 appointments allocated) from Melilla.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" alt=\"Actualmente, la comunidad marroqu\u00ed es la \u00fanica di\u00e1spora extranjera en Espa\u00f1a que supera la barrera del mill\u00f3n de habitantes - &lt;a  data-cke-saved-href=&quot;https:\/\/depositphotos.com\/es\/?\/&quot; href=&quot;https:\/\/depositphotos.com\/es\/?\/&quot;&gt;Depositphotos&lt;\/a&gt;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/2025021811564493756.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/><br \/>\nCurrently, the Moroccan community is the only foreign diaspora in Spain to have exceeded the one-million mark\u00a0&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/depositphotos.com\/es\/?\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Depositphotos<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Age and gender<\/p>\n<p>According to the report published by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, 87% of applicants are of working age \u2013 that is, between 16 and 64 years old \u2013 and 81% are under 45.<\/p>\n<p>By age, the largest group is that of people aged between 25 and 34, accounting for 31.3% of the total, followed by those aged between 35 and 44 (21.6%) and between 16 and 24 (17%). Six out of ten applicants (59.4%) are under 34 years of age.<\/p>\n<p>By gender, the majority of applicants are men (57 % compared with 43 % women), although in the case of minors and those aged between 45 and 54, the distribution is equal.<\/p>\n<p>Method of submission<\/p>\n<p>As regards the method of submitting applications, 83.2% have been processed online, with just 16.8% submitted in person. According to the Ministry, some 200,000 applications have been submitted at 448 post offices, Social Security offices and immigration offices throughout the country.<\/p>\n<p>The government will set up a number of post offices across the country, with special opening hours, to accept in-person amendments from applicants who need to provide additional documentation. Pictured: Social Security One-Stop Shop &#8211; PHOTO\/ARCHIVE<\/p>\n<p>160,000 new Social Security registrations<\/p>\n<p>To date, the extraordinary regularisation process has resulted, as of 30 June, in a total of 159,097 new Social Security registrations.
