Andy Mitten has now provided an update on Real Madrid and France star Aurelien Tchouameni after Manchester United\u2019s transfer links this summer.<\/p>\n

Aurelien Tchouameni<\/a> has impressed at Real Madrid after he arrived at the La Liga club from Monaco in 2022, following Casemiro<\/a>\u2019s move to Manchester United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, the 26-year-old defensive midfielder, who can also play as a defender, had seen his future plunged into doubt in recent months in the Spanish capital.<\/p>\n

Tchouameni had been linked with Man Utd<\/a>, but the France international committed his long-term future to Madrid after agreeing a new deal earlier this month.<\/p>\n

According to ESPN<\/a>, Aurelien Tchouameni\u2019s new contract with Real Madrid is expected to last until 2031 after Los Blancos\u2019 disappointing 2025-26 campaign.<\/p>\n

Tchouameni had been caught in the turbulence of Madrid\u2019s woeful season, including a dressing room altercation with teammate Federico Valverde in May.<\/p>\n

Speaking on The Athletic\u2019s Talk of the Devils<\/a> podcast, Andy Mitten admitted that a \u2018Madrid source\u2019 said that midfielder Tchouameni could still be sold in the summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt sounds like he is, but when I spoke to somebody in Madrid after he\u2019d signed the contract, let me just read the text back, \u2018They could still sell him.\u2019 So, there you go,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe player has obviously done well out of this; this isn\u2019t the first time it\u2019s happened where a Real Madrid player has benefited out of Manchester United\u2019s interest.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI did some calls last week to Madrid or actually it was to the US because that\u2019s where the journalists are covering the Spanish national team. One of the points put to me was [that] Real Madrid want to buy big, so they need to sell big.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo who do they sell who they can get big money for? Fede Valverde has been told that he\u2019s going to be captain \u2013 but if you don\u2019t want to be, mate, you can come to Old Trafford as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Man Utd are undergoing a large-scale midfield rebuild this summer after Casemiro\u2019s exit from Old Trafford and an injury setback to Manuel Ugarte<\/a> at the World Cup<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mitten suggested that Madrid\u2019s plan to tie Tchouameni down to a new contract is not a conclusive sign that Man Utd won\u2019t try and make a move for him this summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cCamavinga wouldn\u2019t bring in as much money. So that is the situation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cHim [Tchouameni] signing a contract, I saw it sort of go off like a light \u2018that\u2019s it Man United won\u2019t be signing him,\u2019 I\u2019m not quite so sure you can write off any deal until the window has closed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt looks improbable, it\u2019s always looked improbable, I think the chance comes if Real Madrid decide they want to sell one of their best players because they need money, and money dictates a lot of things in football.\u201d<\/p>\n

Man Utd have already signed Andrey Santos<\/a> from Premier League side Chelsea this summer and the Red Devils are set to sign Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa.<\/p>\n
