{"id":56674,"date":"2026-07-17T19:39:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-17T19:39:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/56674\/"},"modified":"2026-07-17T19:39:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T19:39:12","slug":"laporta-announces-a-surprise-signing-for-barcelona-hell-be-part-of-the-first-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/56674\/","title":{"rendered":"Laporta announces a surprise signing for Barcelona: &#8216;He\u2019ll be part of the first-team&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has unexpectedly confirmed that winger Abdul Aziz Issah will return to the club after the expiration of his loan spell. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ghanaian is set to travel back to Spain this weekend and re-sign for the Blaugrana from Dreams FC after spending the last two seasons on loan in Catalonia.<\/p>\n<p>Surprise announcement in the United States<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While in the United States of America to attend the World Cup final, Laporta has been approached by supporters and media during his stay in New York.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During one of those encounters, a Ghanaian fan asked him about Aziz Issah, who spent the last two seasons on loan with Bar\u00e7a Atletic from Dreams FC.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Laporta\u2019s response surprised many. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI know Aziz. We brought him in for our reserve team. And now he\u2019ll be part of the first-team set-up. (Photo by Alex Caparros\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Until now, neither Barcelona nor the player had announced any plans regarding his future.<\/p>\n<p>Return to Barcelona<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to SPORT, Issah will fly from Ghana this weekend and is expected to arrive in Barcelona on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If Laporta\u2019s comments prove accurate, the winger could begin training with Hansi Flick\u2019s first-team squad as early as next week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His previous loan officially ended on June 30, during which he made 22 appearances, scoring four and assisting one goal. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barcelona were initially <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/african-attacking-prospect-set-to-leave-barcelona-this-summer-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">expected not to activate the purchase option<\/a>, but it appears that plans have changed.<\/p>\n<p>Future still undecided<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although Laporta suggested Issah will initially join the first-team environment, his long-term role remains unclear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bar\u00e7a Atletic begin pre-season training on Monday, with several academy prospects preparing for the new campaign, including Alex Campos, Ignasi Quer, Josue Caicedo, Joan Anaya and other young talents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The club must now decide whether Issah will remain with the first team during pre-season, or return to Bar\u00e7a Atletic.
