Real Madrid have been following Tottenham Hotspur<\/a>\u2018s Pedro Porro since he rejected them for Girona in 2017.\u00a0<\/p>\n

New Real Madrid manager Jos\u00e9 Mourinho likes the Spain international, but a move is highly unlikely this summer.<\/p>\n

He has been the first choice right-back since joining Tottenham from Sporting in January 2023.<\/p>\n

On June 14th, Spurs rewarded him with a new contract until 2031, with an option for another year.<\/p>\n

The Premier League side acted quickly, to avoid threats from Real Madrid and Manchester City. They anticipated he\u2019d shine at the World Cup and prioritised his renewal before La Roja\u2019s first match of the tournament.<\/p>\n

Real Madrid disappointment\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pedro Porro has starred at the World Cup and even scored in their 2-0 semifinal win over France.<\/p>\n

Friday\u2019s edition of AS<\/a> states some of Real Madrid\u2019s officials and Jos\u00e9 Mourinho\u2019s coaching staff regret not pushing hard to sign the 26-year-old.<\/p>\n

A few months ago, the Spanish club had a window to submit a bid. That didn\u2019t happen and Manchester City also entered the race. Roberto De Zerbi\u2019s side closed the exit door by securing his long-term future.<\/p>\n

In March, the Spurs man publicly talked<\/a> about his dream of joining Real Madrid.<\/p>\n

AS state he would have loved the move this summer, even though he\u2019s happy at Spurs.<\/p>\n

Sources close to the player told the newspaper that \u2018his reaction to a hypothetical offer from the club might have been less passive.\u2019<\/p>\n

Why Real Madrid didn\u2019t pursue Tottenham star<\/p>\n

The newspaper claims Pedro Porro would have cost Real Madrid around \u20ac50m [probably before the renewal].<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>However, Jos\u00e9 Mourinho\u2019s side decided to focus on a cheaper option; Denzel Dumfries for \u20ac20m.<\/p>\n

Los Blancos want to trust Trent Alexander-Arnold as their main right-back, with Dumfries as his deputy. Therefore, they didn\u2019t make any advances to sign Porro.<\/p>\n

AS end by stating: \u2018There were only glances, a flirtation that never materialised. A bitter pill to swallow. Perhaps things would be different now. And at 26, the future could still open that door again.\u2019<\/p>\n
