(Photo by Juan Manuel Serrano Arce\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mundodeportivo.com\/futbol\/fc-barcelona\/20260719\/1004208102\/lazio-dejar-barca-esperado-pellizco-sergi-dominguez.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Mundo Deportivo<\/a>, Lazio have been in negotiations with Dinamo Zagreb over a move for Dominguez.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While talks initially appeared to be progressing smoothly, the latest reports point to a shift in the Italian club\u2019s stance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lazio had originally submitted an offer of around \u20ac12 million, with Dinamo holding out for \u20ac15 million. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the Serie A side now appear more inclined to pursue a loan with an option to buy rather than committing to a permanent transfer straight away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Italian outlet Il Messaggero reports that Lazio are willing to pay \u20ac3.5 million for an initial loan, followed by an option to buy for a further \u20ac8.5 million. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dinamo Zagreb, for their part, want that option to be made obligatory, something Lazio would reportedly only accept on the condition that they qualify for European competition.<\/p>\n<p>Why it matters for Barcelona<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/fc-barcelona-v-ac-milan-pre-season-friendly-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Sergi Dominguez of FC Barcelona\" class=\"wp-image-184270\"  \/>Barcelona have a clause in Dominguez\u2019s contract. (Photo by Scott Taetsch\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barcelona have been <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/barcelona-monitoring-the-situation-of-former-defender-with-e14m-price-tag-amid-growing-interest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">monitoring<\/a> Dominguez\u2019s situation closely, given they hold 20% of any profit from his future sale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Should Dominguez move to Lazio on loan, Barcelona\u2019s immediate income would be limited to around \u20ac470,000. If the Italians eventually trigger the permanent option, Barcelona would receive a further \u20ac1.7 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is a notable difference from what a straightforward permanent transfer might have generated, meaning Lazio\u2019s preference for a loan-based arrangement could delay and reduce the boost Barcelona had been anticipating.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a club still navigating financial constraints, these sell-on clauses have proven a shrewd and reliable source of income.
