{"id":58360,"date":"2026-07-20T21:28:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T21:28:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/58360\/"},"modified":"2026-07-20T21:28:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T21:28:12","slug":"scores-celebrate-spains-kings-of-the-world-win-in-exhilarated-madrid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/58360\/","title":{"rendered":"Scores Celebrate Spain&#8217;s &#8216;Kings of the World&#8217; Win in Exhilarated Madrid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Natasa Bansagi and Pablo Menendez<\/p>\n<p>MADRID, July \u206020 (Reuters) &#8211; \u2060Dancing and chanting on an \u2060open-top bus that read &#8216;Kings of the World&#8217; and showed two \u200blarge stars, Spain&#8217;s national football team celebrated the country&#8217;s second World Cup win on Monday \u200calong Madrid&#8217;s streets packed with exhilarated \u200cfans.<\/p>\n<p>Close to two million people, many dressed in the country&#8217;s jerseys and \u2060waving red \u2060and gold flags, gathered in the Spanish capital to see the \u200bplayers and celebrate Spain&#8217;s 1-0 win over Argentina on Sunday&#8217;s final in New Jersey, according to government estimates.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re full of enthusiasm for (fulfilling) the dream of becoming world champions,&#8221; said Fran Carratala, \u200b34, who had travelled from the northeastern region of Catalonia to witness the \u2060players&#8217; \u2060parade in Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>Spanish national \u2060Daniel Gaona, \u200b44, travelled from Estonia where he lives to watch Sunday&#8217;s final in Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everybody was \u200bcrazy. It was a \u2060very good mood. People were very happy. There were no problems, just a lot of happiness,&#8221; he said as he prepared to see the players&#8217; parade. &#8220;It&#8217;s something you have to come here to live it here&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The Spanish players, wearing t-shirts that read &#8220;We \u2060are champions&#8221; except a few who were topless, constantly waved at the crowds \u2060and threw some footballs at them.<\/p>\n<p>Some players, like forward Borja Iglesias, played music on a DJ set on top of the bus that had a banner on one side and back that read: &#8220;Stars shine together&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Before the parade, the players were greeted by Spanish King Felipe and Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
