The company, chaired by Ignacio Galán, has been recognised as the leading corporate issuer of green, social or sustainable bonds at the 2026 GlobalCapital Bond Awards and as Europe’s most sustainable electricity company at the 2026 World Finance Sustainability Awards.

Both awards highlight the Group’s strategy to drive the electrification of the economy, accelerate decarbonisation and mobilise funding for projects with a positive environmental impact.

A benchmark in sustainable finance

The GlobalCapital Bond Awards, now in their nineteenth year, are the only awards dedicated exclusively to international bond markets. Each year, they recognise excellence amongst issuers, financial institutions, investors, rating agencies and advisers, and have a distinctive feature: the winners are chosen by market participants themselves through a wide-ranging industry consultation.

This award endorses Iberdrola’s track record in sustainable finance markets and reinforces its position as one of the sector’s leading international issuers. In 2025, Iberdrola became the first Spanish company to issue a bond under the new European Green Bond Standard (EU GBS) and the first in the world to obtain dual certification, having simultaneously complied with this standard and with the Green Bond Principles of the International Capital Market Association (ICMA). Since then, the company has issued a total of four green bonds aligned with both reference frameworks, consolidating its leadership in sustainable finance.

Recognition of leadership in sustainability

For their part, the World Finance Sustainability Awards recognise organisations that are leading the transition towards low-carbon, resource-efficient business models committed to creating social value.

According to the jury, Iberdrola stands out for having turned its climate ambition into an operational reality on a large scale across various markets. In particular, the judging panel highlighted the company’s progress in expanding renewable generation capacity, modernising and digitising electricity grids, developing storage solutions and system integration, as well as its contribution to economic growth and employment in the regions where it operates.

The jury also highlighted the robustness of Iberdrola’s climate strategy, which includes achieving direct emissions neutrality in electricity generation by 2030 and the target of reaching net-zero direct and indirect emissions by 2040.

Furthermore, it commended the company’s investments in clean technologies — such as onshore and offshore wind, solar, hydroelectric and energy storage — as well as its role in developing smart grids that facilitate the integration of greater renewable generation and help to build a more flexible, resilient and secure electricity system.

A benchmark in sustainable finance Recognition of leadership in sustainability Iberdrola has received two new international awards that…

[122
6732,9402,196,146,3648
post-58593","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-iberdrola","tag-economia","tag-energia","tag-energy","tag-iberdrola","tag-l
["GET
