\u202fToday, we announced\u202fthat our Valencia plant\u202fand its people\u202fwill be at the heart of a new partnership with Geely Auto,\u202fdesigned\u202fto secure the plant\u2019s future,\u202fprovide\u202flong-term stability and create the potential for future high-tech manufacturing job growth.\u202f<\/p>\n

\u202fThrough this\u202fstrategic,\u202fEuropean-focused joint venture,\u202fthe new company will manufacture Ford and Geely multi-energy passenger vehicles for the European market \u2014 pooling production volume across two automakers to use the plant more fully, lower the cost of every vehicle we build there and strengthen the local Valencia economy.<\/p>\n

And, of course, the world-class line-up of new electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles that Valencia produces will deliver the rally-bred thrills and enable the off-road adventures that are part of Ford\u2019s unique appeal to European drivers.<\/p>\n

This isn’t just a partnership. This is our blueprint to win\u202fin an environment where intense competition, European\u202felectric vehicle\u202fmandates and industrial costs\u202fcreate challenges that no single company can solve\u202falone.\u202f<\/p>\n

An exciting vehicle line-up\u202f<\/p>\n

I\u2019m\u202ftruly\u202fexcited\u202fby\u202fthis\u202fnew joint venture,\u202fthe opportunities\u202fit brings for our people in Valencia\u202fand the vehicles\u202fit will deliver.\u202f<\/p>\n

In 2028, Valencia will start to build a new multi-energy crossover \u2014 designed by Ford and co-developed with Geely, but engineered with the pure capability and driving dynamics that define a Ford vehicle.<\/p>\n

In addition, from 2028 our\u202fValencia\u202fplant will produce\u202fa new\u202fmember of the global Bronco family\u202f\u2014\u202fa rugged, multi-energy\u202fcompact SUV. And Kuga production will continue uninterrupted.<\/p>\n

The new joint venture will\u202falso\u202fbring two\u202fadditional\u202fvehicles to Valencia, again\u202ffrom 2028 \u2014\u202fboth electric Geely SUVs.\u202f<\/p>\n

That\u2019s five vehicles\u202ffrom\u202ftwo\u202fbrands. All\u202fbuilt\u202fin Europe, for Europe.\u202f<\/p>\n

And as I promised earlier this year<\/a>, every Ford vehicle that\u202fwe build for our passionate customers will\u202fmake them feel something\u202fin a way that only a Ford vehicle can \u2014 combining our unique off-road DNA with on-road performance to create rally-bred vehicles tailored to Europe.<\/p>\n

\u202fBut right now, the European market is intense. Emissions mandates are out of sync with market demand. New global competitors have reset the industry’s cost and technology benchmark.<\/p>\n

This joint venture keeps production,\u202finvestment\u202fand jobs in Europe, at a European plant, with European workers.<\/p>\n

We chose a partner willing to invest alongside us in European manufacturing and to compete on a level playing field,\u202fbuilding in Europe, for Europe, and playing by the same rules we do.\u202f<\/p>\n

We don’t\u202fhave time to wait for policymakers to finish debating\u202freforms. We are acting now to build a competitive industrial system\u202fthat strengthens European manufacturing rather than sidesteps it.\u202f<\/p>\n
