Manchester United<\/a> are ready to push the button on their plan B signing at left-back, with Michael Carrick already approving the move, according to a report.<\/p>\n

With so many big names departing, Newcastle may finally shut up shop and declare no more. In that scenario, Bailey broke news of Man Utd identifying Racing Santander\u2019s Jorge Salinas as a viable alternative.<\/p>\n

He wrote on July 30<\/a>: \u2018TEAMtalk can reveal that Jorge Salinas has emerged as one of the leading alternatives should a deal for Hall fail to materialise, though competition for the Racing Santander teenager looks tough, with one of the world\u2019s most powerful clubs ready to vie with United for his signature.\u2019<\/p>\n

That club is Barcelona<\/a>, who we were informed have already held discussions over the 19-year-old\u2019s transfer to the Camp Nou.<\/p>\n

But according to a fresh update from Spanish outlet Sport<\/a>, Man Utd are ready to hijack Barcelona\u2019s move by triggering Salinas\u2019 release clause, which per the report, is a step Barca AREN\u2019T willing to take.<\/p>\n

Man Utd to trigger Jorge Salinas\u2019 release clause?<\/p>\n

Firstly, they stated: \u2018Manchester United have identified Salinas as their plan B to reinforce their left flank.<\/p>\n

\u2018The team managed by Michael Carrick<\/a> is aiming to sign Lewis Hall, the 21-year-old Newcastle player.\u2019<\/p>\n

Sport then claimed Newcastle are \u2018unwilling\u2019 to let Hall go, before adding: \u2018Therefore,\u00a0Manchester United have set their sights on Jorge Salinas, whom they monitored at the Under-19 European Championship\u00a0held in Wales this past July, where the Spanish national team emerged victorious.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Manchester club\u2019s management was pleasantly surprised by the 19-year-old and believes he is ready to join the first team immediately, where he would compete for a place with Luke Shaw, a player prone to injury.\u2019<\/p>\n

Carrick is believed to have \u2018approved\u2019 this move, and Sport concluded their update by shedding light on the release clause.<\/p>\n

They noted: \u2018Manchester United, unlike FC Barcelona, \u200b\u200bis willing to pay the Cantabrian player\u2019s \u20ac16 million release clause.<\/p>\n

\u2018Barcelona, \u200b\u200bfor their part, are offering a maximum of \u20ac8 million, divided into \u20ac6 million fixed and \u20ac2 million in add-ons, plus a loan player to lower the cost.<\/p>\n

\u2018However, they have the advantage that Salinas, who returned to training with Racing Santander on Monday, wants to wear the Barcelona colours next season.\u2019<\/p>\n

As mentioned, Hall remains Man Utd\u2019s clear first choice, meaning a move for Salinas will only take shape if Newcastle inform Man Utd there\u2019s no deal to be had for Hall.<\/p>\n
