The deal amounted to a transfer fee of €40 million, which is the same figure the Cottagers paid Shakthar last summer for Brazilian winger Kevin. Fulham also signed 21-year-old midfielder César Palacios from Los Blancos for a further €10m. Speaking to the club website, García said:

“I’m very grateful, very happy to be here. I have to thank the board and [Álvaro] Arbeloa for the trust they’ve put in me, and I’m very, very excited to start.” The proposals are also thought to include a 30 per cent sell-on clause for each player. Both players follow head coach Álvaro Arbeloa to Craven Cottage from the Spanish capital. The pair are keen to play in the Premier League under Arbeloa, whom they worked with in Madrid’s youth system. Garcia has a current market value of €30m, with Palacios worth €7.5m.

Player Comparison

€30.00m

Market Value

€7.50m

Centre-Forward

Position

Attacking Midfield

30/06/2031

Contract until

30/06/2031

            Full Player Comparison

Fulham have already lost two of their top attackers this summer, following the expirations of their contracts – with last season’s top scorer Harry Wilson joining Leeds and Mexican no.9 Raúl Jiménez re-signing for Wolves in the Championship.
