Fulham<\/a> equalled their club record signing on Wednesday evening to bring in young Spanish striker Gonzalo Garc\u00eda<\/a> from Real Madrid<\/a>. The deal amounted to a transfer fee of \u20ac40 million, which is the same figure the Cottagers paid Shakthar last summer for Brazilian winger Kevin. Fulham also signed 21-year-old midfielder C\u00e9sar Palacios<\/a> from Los Blancos for a further \u20ac10m. Speaking to the club website, Garc\u00eda said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very grateful, very happy to be here. I have to thank the board and [\u00c1lvaro] Arbeloa for the trust they\u2019ve put in me, and I\u2019m very, very excited to start.\u201d The proposals are also thought to include a 30 per cent sell-on clause for each player. Both players follow head coach \u00c1lvaro Arbeloa<\/a> to Craven Cottage from the Spanish capital. The pair are keen to play in the Premier League under Arbeloa, whom they worked with in Madrid\u2019s youth system. Garcia has a current market value of \u20ac30m, with Palacios worth \u20ac7.5m.<\/p>\n

Fulham have already lost two of their top attackers this summer, following the expirations of their contracts – with last season\u2019s top scorer Harry Wilson<\/a> joining Leeds and Mexican no.9 Ra\u00fal Jim\u00e9nez<\/a> re-signing for Wolves in the Championship. Garcia and Palacios are set to become the first new arrivals of the summer, following young Swedish forward Jonah Kusi-Asare, who joined on a permanent basis from Bayern Munich after being on loan last season.<\/p>\n

Garcia has received attention from multiple clubs across Europe this year, after breaking into the Madrid squad from the academy. He shone in the 2025 Club World Cup, scoring four goals in six games and winning the tournament\u2019s Golden Boot. Last season, he made 39 appearances for the first team – the majority from the bench – scoring eight goals, including a hat-trick against Real Betis in January.<\/p>\n
