{"id":65976,"date":"2026-08-05T00:49:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T00:49:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/65976\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T00:49:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T00:49:14","slug":"explora-journeys-names-first-lng-powered-ship-in-barcelona","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/65976\/","title":{"rendered":"Explora Journeys names first LNG-powered ship in Barcelona"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TORONTO \u2014 Explora Journeys has officially named EXPLORA III in Barcelona, celebrating the arrival of the brand\u2019s first liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered ship and the third vessel in its growing fleet.<\/p>\n<p>The naming ceremony, held Aug. 1 alongside the MSC Cruise Division terminal in Barcelona, marks the halfway point in Explora Journeys\u2019 plan to launch six ultra-luxury ships.<\/p>\n<p>EXPLORA III was delivered ahead of schedule on July 23 at Fincantieri\u2019s shipyard in Genoa before embarking on a five-night <a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelweek.ca\/news\/cruise\/ship-preview-explora-iii-is-a-new-address-for-an-ocean-state-of-mind\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Prelude Journey<\/a> through the Mediterranean. The voyage welcomed Explora Journeys Global Brand Ambassador and world No. 1 tennis player Jannik Sinner as the ship\u2019s first guest.<\/p>\n<p>The official naming ceremony brought together senior executives from Explora Journeys and MSC Group and featured a gala dinner across the ship\u2019s restaurants as well as performances by Sister Sledge and DJ Bob Sinclar.<\/p>\n<p>Following the naming celebrations, EXPLORA III departed Barcelona on Aug. 3 for a seven-night maiden voyage to Lisbon.<\/p>\n<p>The ship\u2019s inaugural season will include sailings across Northern Europe, Iceland, Greenland and North America.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>LARGEST SHIP IN THE FLEET<\/p>\n<p>At 63 feet longer than EXPLORA I and EXPLORA II, EXPLORA III becomes the largest ship in the fleet and offers what the company says is the highest public space-to-guest ratio in the Explora Journeys fleet, with 64 square feet of public space per guest.<\/p>\n<p>The ship introduces an expanded collection of Ocean Penthouses and Ocean Residences, along with a second 3,391-square-foot Owner\u2019s Residence.
