Minister of Trade \u00d6mer Bolat met with Spain\u2019s First Deputy Prime
\nMinister and Minister of Economy, Trade and Business Carlos Cuerpo
\nCaballero in Madrid, holding high-level discussions aimed at
\ndeepening bilateral commercial ties.<\/p>\n
Announcing details of the meeting via his social media account,
\nBolat stated, “As part of our visit to Spain\u2014one of our most
\ncritical trade partners within the European Union\u2014we held a highly
\nproductive meeting in Madrid with First Deputy Prime Minister and
\nMinister of Economy, Trade and Business, Mr. Carlos Cuerpo
\nCaballero. During our meeting, we comprehensively addressed our
\nbilateral commercial and economic relations with Spain, a strategic
\npartner, friend, and ally. We evaluated concrete steps to carry our
\nexisting economic partnership even further, agreeing to hold the
\n4th Term T\u00fcrkiye-Spain JETCO (Joint Economic and Trade Committee)
\nMeeting in Madrid this coming autumn, with strong participation
\nfrom the business communities of both nations.”<\/p>\n
Noting that global and regional economic developments were
\nthoroughly reviewed during the talks, Minister Bolat emphasized
\nthat T\u00fcrkiye-EU economic relations formed a major topic on the
\nagenda.<\/p>\n
“In this framework, we shared our expectations regarding the
\nmodernization and more effective operation of the Customs Union,
\nwhich forms the foundation of our strong economic integration with
\nEU member states,” Bolat explained. “We exchanged views on public
\nprocurement as one of the priority areas that could elevate our
\neconomic cooperation to a higher level. Furthermore, we evaluated
\nrecently enacted EU trade, competition, and industrial
\npolicies\u2014most notably the Net Zero Industry Act (Industrial
\nAcceleration Act). We emphasized that shaping these policies with
\nan inclusive approach that encompasses T\u00fcrkiye will contribute
\nsignificantly to both the EU’s competitiveness and Europe’s broader
\neconomic security.”<\/p>\n
Bolat added: “On the occasion of our meeting, we congratulated
\nSpain on its FIFA World Cup championship. Expressing our deep
\nsadness over the recent forest fires in Spain, we reaffirmed
\nT\u00fcrkiye\u2019s strong support for friendly and allied Spain during this
\ndifficult process.”<\/p>\n
Highlighting Spain’s status as T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s fourth-largest trade
\npartner within the European Union, Minister Bolat shared ambitious
\ngrowth targets for bilateral commerce.<\/p>\n
“We aim to increase our annual bilateral trade volume with Spain
\nfrom last year’s $20.5 billion to $25 billion in the medium term,”
\nBolat stated. “Within the framework of the vision set forth by our
\nPresident, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan, we firmly believe that the
\ndeep-rooted friendship and strategic partnership between T\u00fcrkiye
\nand Spain will grow even stronger in the upcoming period, built
\nupon the innovative initiatives of our business community and
