target=\"_blank\">Manchester United<\/a>\u2019s pursuit of Alvaro Carreras is set to end in disappointment, with the Real Madrid left-back determined to stay at Estadio Bernabeu, according to a report.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/manchester-united\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Man Utd<\/a> are on the hunt for a new left-back and have been linked with Carreras.<\/p>\n<p>Carreras, a former Man Utd youth player, joined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/real-madrid\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Real Madrid<\/a> from Benfica in the summer of 2025 for\u00a0\u20ac50million (\u00a343m).<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old was predominantly the first-choice left-back at Madrid last season, but earlier this summer, Los Blancos signed Marc Cucurella from Chelsea.<\/p>\n<p>Cucurella, who won the 2026 World Cup with Spain this summer, will be the number one left-back under manager Jose Mourinho during the 2026\/27 campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Man Utd \u2018exploring\u2019 Alvaro Carreras deal<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this summer, it was reported that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/manchester-united-alvaro-carreras-real-madrid\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Man Utd are interested in bringing Carreras back to Old Trafford<\/a>, as manager Michael Carrick plans to sign a new left-back.<\/p>\n<p>READ: <a target=\"_blank\">X<\/a>, posted at 8:00am on June 15: \u201cEXCLUSIVE: Manchester United are internally exploring a move to bring back Alvaro Carreras after Real Madrid completed the signing of Marc Cucurella.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo formal approach has been made yet, but United want to understand Carreras\u2019 situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith Cucurella expected to be the first-choice left-back, Carreras could look for a move in search of regular playing time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/chelsea-xabi-alonso-alvaro-carreras-real-madrid\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chelsea have also been linked with Carreras<\/a>, who worked with current Blues manager Xabi Alonso at Estadio Bernabeu last season.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/chelsea-pep-chavarria-rayo-vallecano-fabrizio-romano-done-deal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chelsea have a deal in place with Rayo longer in contention for Carreras, the Red Devils\u2019 co-owners, INEOS, will be disappointed to learn that Carreras wants to stay at Madrid and fight for his place in the team, according to <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/as.com\/futbol\/primera\/carreras-no-se-resigna-f202608-n\/\" target=\"_blank\">AS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The headline in the report of the Real Madrid-leaning Spanish publication reads: \u2018Carreras does not give up\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The report has noted: \u2018The Ferrol native is using preseason to send a message to Mourinho: he doesn\u2019t want to be just a luxury substitute.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>While underlining Carreras\u2019s impressive performance in pre-season for Madrid, AS stated: \u2018It\u2019s not time to give up.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Galician full-back arrived at preseason on the first day and hasn\u2019t stopped since.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018He started both training matches against\u00a0Alcorcon\u00a0and\u00a0Leganes, as well as the first official preseason friendly against\u00a0Fiorentina, where he played the full 90 minutes.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The report went on to add that \u2018during preseason, Carreras is showing he\u00a0won\u2019t resign himself to being a luxury substitute and wants to convince the coach he\u2019s ready to fight for a starting spot\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>While Carreras is aiming to stay at Madrid and fight for his place in the team, Newcastle United have turned down Man Utd\u2019s approach for their star left-back Lewis Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie posted on <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SkySports_Keith\/status\/2085729166788288749\" target=\"_blank\">X<\/a> at 3:05pm on August 7: \u201cNewcastle have informed Manchester United that full-back Lewis Hall is not for sale this summer, after an initial enquiry was rejected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c#MUFC are looking to strengthen at left back this summer and Hall is a player they like.<\/p>\n<p>#NUFC turned down their enquiry for the defender nearly two weeks ago.
