LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A 27-year-old Louisville man is facing a felony wanton endangerment charge and multiple misdemeanors after court records show he loaded the chamber of a gun and pointed it at his neighbor after she confronted him for urinating near her vehicle. <\/p>\n
Matthew M. Spain was arrested in the early morning hours of Friday, August 7, by Middletown Police officers. <\/p>\n
Arrest records show officers were dispatched to an apartment on Center Grove Lane just after 2:00 a.m. following reports of a white male wearing a red shirt pointing a firearm at a resident. <\/p>\n
The victim told officers that she saw Spain urinating on or near her vehicle and spoke to him about it. <\/p>\n
In the citation, police say Spain then went inside his apartment, returned with a pistol, \u201cracked the slide back,\u201d and pointed it in the direction of the victim. <\/p>\n
The victim told police she immediately feared for her safety. <\/p>\n
Upon arrival, Middletown PD officers observed Spain walk out of his residence and arrested him without incident. <\/p>\n
Officers noted that Spain smelled strongly of alcohol and admitted to drinking before their arrival. <\/p>\n
Spain is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, a Class D felony, as well as second-degree disorderly conduct, menacing, and public alcohol intoxication. <\/p>\n
Spain was arraigned on Saturday, August 8, entering a plea of not guilty.<\/p>\n
He is currently being held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on a $10,000 cash bond. If he posts bail, Spain is ordered to stay away from the victim, her residence, and her place of employment, and he is subject to a strict \u201cno guns\u201d order barring him from possessing or using any weapons.<\/p>\n
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 17.<\/p>\n
