{"id":70462,"date":"2026-08-14T11:26:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T11:26:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/70462\/"},"modified":"2026-08-14T11:26:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T11:26:15","slug":"manchester-city-boss-leaves-door-open-for-rodris-barcelona-move-anything-can-happen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/70462\/","title":{"rendered":"Manchester City boss leaves door open for Rodri&#8217;s Barcelona move: &#8216;Anything can happen&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rodri\u2019s future remains one of the biggest stories of the transfer window, and Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has refused to rule out the midfielder\u2019s potential move to Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Spanish international returned to England and reported for Manchester City training despite the uncertainty surrounding his future.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, with Barcelona still working on a possible deal, Maresca made it clear that the situation could yet change before the transfer window closes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking about the ongoing speculation, the City manager was quoted by <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FabrizioRomano\/status\/2088205896681676806\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Fabrizio Romano<\/a> as saying,<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe window transfer is open\u2026 we can buy players, we can sell, anything can happen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ve just seen Rodri. I gave him a big hug. He looks good. (Photo by Diego Souto\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the rumours surrounding his future, Rodri fulfilled his commitment to Manchester City.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The midfielder had spent Thursday in Madrid waiting for clarity over a possible transfer and had <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/rodri-asks-man-city-permission-to-skip-training-as-barcelona-hope-to-complete-deal-by-monday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">hoped for permission to miss training<\/a> if his situation progressed quickly. That did not happen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With his scheduled training session still in place, Rodri travelled to England and reported back to the club.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Spain international was approached about the possibility of joining Barcelona after arriving in England but chose not to comment on the speculation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is extremely important to note that his presence at Manchester City\u2019s training ground does not necessarily close the door on a move.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"719\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1786706775_466_spain-v-argentina-final-fifa-world-cup-2026-3-1024x719.jpg\" alt=\"Rodri of Spain and Julian Alvarez of Argentina\" class=\"wp-image-208105\"  \/>Maresca has kept the door open to Rodri\u2019s transfer.
