{"id":70549,"date":"2026-08-14T15:25:16","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T15:25:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/70549\/"},"modified":"2026-08-14T15:25:16","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T15:25:16","slug":"max-shulga-signs-with-real-madrid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/70549\/","title":{"rendered":"Max Shulga Signs With Real Madrid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Celtics guard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/shulgma01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-14_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Max Shulga<\/a> has signed a two-year contract with Real Madrid, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.realmadrid.com\/es-ES\/noticias\/club\/comunicados\/comunicado-oficial-max-shulga-14-08-2026\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">according to a press release<\/a> from the Spanish team.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Max-Shulga-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-487549\"  \/>The 57th overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft out of VCU, Shulga spent most of his rookie year on a two-way contract before being promoted to Boston\u2019s standard roster in March. The 24-year-old appeared in 11 regular season games and two playoff contests for the team.<\/p>\n<p>Shulga was in the G League with the Maine Celtics for the majority of the 2025\/26 season, appearing in 39 games for Boston\u2019s NBAGL affiliate. He averaged 15.4 points, 6.4 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in 33.3 minutes per contest, with a shooting line of .419\/.372\/.722.<\/p>\n<p>The Celtics could have picked up a $2.15MM team option on Shulga for the 2026\/27 season, but they <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2026\/06\/celtics-exercise-2026-27-options-on-queta-walsh-banton.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">declined that option<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2026\/06\/qo-decisions-post-hukporti-spurs-barnhizer-celtics.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">decided against<\/a> issuing him a qualifying offer, so he became an unrestricted free agent last month.<\/p>\n<p>Shulga will be joining a Real Madrid roster that features several players with previous NBA experience, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/maledth01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-14_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Theo Maledon<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/campafa01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-14_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Facundo Campazzo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/o\/okekech01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-14_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Chuma Okeke<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/garubus01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-14_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Usman Garuba<\/a>, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/luwawti01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-07-06_bbr\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Real Madrid went 26-8 in the Liga ACB regular season and had a 24-14 record in EuroLeague play in 2025\/26.
