The Ferran Torres vs Barcelona saga isn\u2019t that bad for the Spanish club.<\/p>\n

Barcelona are close to selling Torres to Paris Saint-Germain in a deal that could save them as much as \u20ac18 million in payments to Manchester City.<\/p>\n

The Athletic reports that Barcelona and PSG have agreed a fee of around \u20ac50 million with no add-ons, setting up a reunion between Torres and former Spain boss Luis Enrique.<\/p>\n

Torres has just enjoyed a huge summer after scoring Spain\u2019s extra-time winner against Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final. He also played an important role in Barcelona\u2019s title-winning campaign last season, scoring 21 goals in 49 appearances.<\/p>\n

Barcelona signed Torres from Manchester City in January 2022 for \u20ac55 million plus \u20ac10 million in potential variables.<\/p>\n

Part of that agreement included further payments based on what happened with the forward after his move to Camp Nou.<\/p>\n

Had Barcelona extended Torres\u2019 contract, they would have been required to pay Manchester City another \u20ac8 million. With his current deal expiring next year, that obligation will now disappear.<\/p>\n

There is another important detail in the agreement.<\/p>\n

Manchester City were also due a \u20ac10 million sell-on payment if Barcelona sold Torres for \u20ac55 million or more.<\/p>\n

Barcelona\u2019s agreement with PSG is reportedly worth \u20ac50 million, meaning the Catalan club can avoid triggering that clause while keeping the full transfer fee.<\/p>\n

That makes the structure of the deal particularly useful for Barcelona as they continue to manage their finances.<\/p>\n

For Torres, meanwhile, the move would bring an end to his Barcelona spell after four-and-a-half seasons.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old has made 207 appearances for the club, scoring 63 goals and providing 23 assists.<\/p>\n

His departure comes despite the forward finishing last season with an important role in Barcelona\u2019s success and then becoming a World Cup winner with Spain.<\/p>\n

Now, Torres is set to reunite with Luis Enrique at PSG, while Barcelona can move forward with a \u20ac50 million transfer and avoid the additional payments that could have gone to Manchester City.<\/p>\n

However, the Spanish forward will have tough competition to break into PSG\u2019s fully stacked attack.<\/p>\n

It is a neat piece of business for the Catalan club, particularly given the financial commitments attached to Torres\u2019 original move from the Etihad.<\/p>\n
