MADRID — Debra J. Kenny, age 63, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Friends and family may attend calling hours on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m., until the time of services with Rev. Garry Girouax at the Phillips Memorial Home, located at 20 Church St., Madrid, NY, at 3:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Debra was born on August 3, 1963, in Canton to Ronald W. and Violet M. (Paro) Tiernan.\u00a0In 1981, she graduated from Madrid-Waddington High School. She attended LPN school through BOCES and then graduated from SUNY-Canton as a Registered Nurse. Her career in health care started at Moon Gate in Canton, which later became United Helpers. She worked for several years at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where she was passionate about Labor and Delivery Nursing. She then went to work in corrections, first at Upstate Correctional Facility in Ogdensburg, then Riverview Correctional Facility, per diem at St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, and then retired medically from Ogdensburg Correctional Facility, Ogdensburg.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
On May 14, 2005, she married Michael R. Kenny in St. Regis Falls.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Surviving Debra is her loving husband, Michael R. of Waddington; her children, Joseph J. IV \u201cJoey\u201d Adams of Potsdam, NY, Corey W. and Tara Adams of Colton, NY, Brandon M. and Meghan Adams of Parishville, NY. Michael\u2019s children,\u00a0 Andrew S. Putnam and companion Ashley Griffin of Arkport, NY, Nicolas M. and Megan Kenny of Parishville, NY, Cody J. and Brooke Kenny of Massena. Nephews and nieces, Ashley and Tyler Agin and their children, Oliver and Liam, Joshua Bjork of Newport News, VA, Tyler Derouchie and companion Carole Shattuck and their child, Madilyn Derouchie. She is also survived by two sisters, Bobbie and Harold Corbin of Charles City, VA, and Julie Derouchie of Portland, Maine. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Ronald and Marie Tiernan, and father-in-law, Robert Kenny.\u00a0<\/p>\n
