{"id":71189,"date":"2026-08-16T13:13:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-16T13:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/71189\/"},"modified":"2026-08-16T13:13:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-16T13:13:11","slug":"barcelona-generate-around-e50-million-ffp-space-by-selling-spanish-forward-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/71189\/","title":{"rendered":"Barcelona generate around \u20ac50 million FFP space by selling Spanish forward &#8211; report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barcelona have completed the sale of Ferran Torres to PSG, with the Spanish forward leaving to reunite with Luis Enrique.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Catalan club ran the risk of seeing the World Cup hero leave for free at the end of next season and chose to cash in after he expressed his desire to move.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ferran leaves after four and a half seasons at the Catalan club, <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/barcelona-bought-a-winger-and-sold-a-striker-the-complicated-legacy-of-ferran-torres\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">which were a mixed bag<\/a>, but after arguably his two best seasons at Bar\u00e7a.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sport.es\/es\/noticias\/barca\/millonada-genera-ferran-torres-fair-133392969\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">SPORT<\/a>, the former Manchester City forward\u2019s move to PSG has handed Bar\u00e7a a massive financial boost.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The operation is expected to generate around \u20ac50 million in FFP for the Catalans, which could help them with their own signings this summer.<\/p>\n<p>How Ferran generates \u20ac50 million in FFP space<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barcelona signed Ferran from Manchester City in January 2022 for \u20ac55 million, handing him a five-and-a-half-year contract running until 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That left the club with an annual amortisation cost of approximately \u20ac10 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With Ferran departing one year before the end of his contract, Bar\u00e7a still had around \u20ac10 million of his original transfer fee left to amortise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The forward has now been sold to PSG for close to \u20ac50 million.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/spain-v-iraq-international-friendly-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Ferran Torres of Spain\" class=\"wp-image-208148\"  \/>Ferran Torres has moved to PSG. (Photo by Florencia Tan Jun\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After subtracting the remaining \u20ac10 million book value, Barcelona are therefore expected to record an accounting profit of roughly \u20ac40 million from the transfer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is then another important saving: Ferran\u2019s wages.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Spain international was earning approximately \u20ac10 million gross per season. Removing the final year of those wages takes the overall FFP impact of his departure to around \u20ac50 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Barcelona, that makes the transfer considerably more valuable than simply receiving a large fee.<\/p>\n<p>Rodri and Adeyemi could benefit<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps the most significant detail is what Bar\u00e7a can now do with that additional room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report estimates that signing Rodri for around \u20ac70 million on a four-year contract, assuming a gross annual salary of \u20ac20 million, would create an FFP cost of approximately \u20ac37.5 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Karim Adeyemi, meanwhile, is estimated to require another \u20ac16.4 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Combined, the two would represent an impact of around \u20ac53.9 million under those assumptions.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/st-louis-cardinals-v-new-york-yankees-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Ferran Torres of Spain\" class=\"wp-image-208150\"  \/>Ferran Torres leaves significant FFP space for Barcelona. (Photo by Sarah Stier\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ferran\u2019s departure alone could therefore almost compensate for the FFP requirements of registering both players.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a club still navigating financial hurdles, a sale like this could go a long way towards setting the club up for the future.<\/p>\n<p>A very different Barcelona transfer window<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike previous summers dominated by emergency financial measures and uncertainty surrounding registrations, the club entered this market operating under La Liga\u2019s 1:1 rule.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Robert Lewandowski\u2019s departure has already removed a substantial salary from the wage bill, while Ferran now provides another major injection of flexibility through both accounting profit and salary savings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barcelona are still being careful and have not rushed to register every new arrival, but the situation is considerably healthier than in recent years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selling Ferran was a major sporting decision, particularly after his excellent recent form.
