Seven Jewish tourists from France were caught up in a serious antisemitic incident at the port of Barcelona after being confronted by a mob of hundreds of people.<\/p>\n
The group was subjected to approximately 40 minutes of antisemitic chants, verbal abuse, and spitting before managing to escape and return to their hotel.<\/p>\n
One of those attacked, Jimmy Zagron, recounted the moments of terror and humiliation he and his friends endured in an interview with a French television network.<\/p>\n
The incident began when a woman displaying pro-Palestinian symbols noticed the group. Several members were wearing kippahs, while one was dressed in traditional Hasidic attire as a Chabad Hasid.<\/p>\n
The woman began clapping and shouting pro-Palestinian chants at the tourists, prompting hundreds of people to quickly gather around them.<\/p>\n
The demonstration suddenly escalated into an overtly antisemitic tirade. Among the chants directed at the group were \u201cbaby killers,” \u201cJews are not welcome here,” \u201cZionists are not welcome here,” and \u201cdeath to Israel,” along with other verbal abuse.<\/p>\n
Zagron said that, in a desperate attempt to calm the situation, he tried to explain to the attackers that he was a French citizen with no connection to Israel. However, the harassment, shouting, and spitting continued unabated.<\/p>\n
As the situation escalated and it became clear that the group faced a genuine threat to their safety, with the crowd surrounding them from all sides, the tourists were forced to split up in order to escape.<\/p>\n
