{"id":72644,"date":"2026-08-19T14:11:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T14:11:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/72644\/"},"modified":"2026-08-19T14:11:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T14:11:08","slug":"two-days-after-ryanair-complaint-new-balearic-air-traffic-control-boss-appointed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/72644\/","title":{"rendered":"Two days after Ryanair complaint, new Balearic air traffic control boss appointed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just two days ago <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Ryanair.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ryanair<\/a> called on the Spanish Government to intervene urgently to address the growing capacity and staffing problems at ENAIRE\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Air+traffic+control.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">air traffic control<\/a>, after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Spain.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spain<\/a> overtook <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/France.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">France<\/a> as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/europe.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Europe<\/a>\u2019s worst ATC provider.<\/p>\n<p>And coincidentally today it was announced that from 16 September, Paloma P\u00e1ez Rodr\u00edguez will be the new director of the Balearic region for the state air navigation service provider Enaire, taking over from Alejandro Mena, who has held this post since January 2023 and is stepping down to continue his professional career at Eurocontrol.<\/p>\n<p>P\u00e1ez holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering, specialising in Telematics, from the University of the Balearic Islands, and has 25 years\u2019 experience in the field of air navigation and technology systems management, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has stated in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>In this role, P\u00e1ez will continue to drive forward Enaire\u2019s strategic projects in the Balearic region, as set out in the \u2018Strategic Plan of the Public Enterprise: Flight Plan 2030\u2019. Enaire\u2019s incoming director for the Balearic Islands joined the state-run organisation in 2001 as an ATSEP Technician for Air Navigation Systems. In her role, she has been involved in the operation, maintenance and development of the technological infrastructure supporting the provision of air navigation services.<\/p>\n<p>In 2007, she was promoted to ATSEP Coordinator for Air Navigation Systems, a role she held until 2013, leading the coordination of teams and the supervision of Communications, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) systems.<\/p>\n<p>She subsequently took on the role of Head of the Management Support Unit, further strengthening her expertise in planning, management and organisational coordination.
