Earlier today, Fabrizio Romano reported that Manchester United had shown an interest in signing FC Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Indeed, the Red Devils have gotten in touch with the defender\u2019s agent, Jorge Mendes, to enquire about his situation and the conditions for a potential transfer this summer.<\/p>\n

Barcelona not ruling out sale<\/p>\n

Now, building on that, journalist Carlos Monfort of SPORT<\/a> reports that Barcelona have been considering the possibility of Balde leaving the club this summer for some time now.<\/p>\n

As per the update, Bar\u00e7a head coach Hansi Flick has some doubts about the 22-year-old La Masia graduate, which is why the possibility of an exit does not seem to be fully off the table.<\/p>\n

It must be remembered that Joao Cancelo overtook Balde for the starting spot at left-back in the second half of the last season.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard also missed the first few pre-season matches due to a fitness problem, during which academy prospect Jordi Pesquer made a solid impression.<\/p>\n

Now, with Cancelo back at the club on a permanent basis, Balde will find competition for places intense.<\/p>\n

Sale unlikely<\/p>\n

However, the journalist further states that despite the situation Balde is happy at Barcelona, and therefore, a departure, as things stand, seems unlikely.<\/p>\n

In fact, during an interview in July, the 22-year-old academy product firmly closed the doors on the possibility of a departure, saying<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople always say a lot of things, but Barcelona is my home. I\u2019ve been at this club for 16 years, my whole life. I want to succeed here, and my mind is here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Contracted with the Blaugrana until 2028, he added: \u201cI\u2019m from Barcelona, it\u2019s my home. All I\u2019m thinking about is staying here for many more years. I\u2019m not thinking about leaving.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a Barcelona fan, I\u2019m from Barcelona. I won\u2019t be better anywhere else.\u201d<\/p>\n
