FC Barcelona has reached an agreement to sign a new first team player as reported by SPORT<\/a> and Mundo Deportivo, citing anonymous sources.<\/p>\n

The former Catalan newspaper\u2019s reliable transfer market expert Carlos Monfort explains that Bar\u00e7a has agreed to pay Fenerbahce around $4.7 million (\u20ac4 million) for Dominik Livakovic.<\/p>\n

Croatia World Cup star Livakovic should officially join the Blaugrana in 2027.<\/p>\n

Then, it\u2019s highly likely that he\u2019ll be loaned out first, and later return to Catalonia a year from now to start the 2027\/2028 season under Hansi Flick<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old is effectively a replacement for Wojciech Szczesny, who is currently number two in the goalkeeping pecking order behind Spain international Joan Garcia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018Tek\u2019, as Szczesny is known to his companions, was brought in as a last-minute replacement outside the closed transfer market when Marc-Andre ter Stegen<\/a> tore his ACL away at Villarreal pretty much as 2024\/2025 got underway.<\/p>\n

Ter Stegen has since had two loans out to Girona and Ajax, the latter of which he has just started now, and it appears that he has no way back into the fold at FC Barcelona with his contract set to expire in mid-2028.<\/p>\n

Szczesny\u2019s terms run down in just over 10 months on June 30, 2027, and he\u2019s likely to go back into the retirement that Bar\u00e7a pulled him out of after hanging his gloves up at Juventus.<\/p>\n

Livakovic will keep Joan Garcia on his toes at FC Barcelona<\/p>\n

Though he didn\u2019t play a single minute during Spain\u2019s World Cup-winning campaign in North America this summer, as Unai Simon let in just one goal thanks to Pau Cubarsi<\/a>\u2019s Best Young Player exploits, Joan Garcia is the future of his club and country.<\/p>\n

As an experienced goalkeeper himself with World Cup pedigree however, who has also been on loan at Girona and played in the Champions League, Livakovic will keep ex-Espanyol shotsopper Joan Garcia on his toes at the Spotify Camp Nou.<\/p>\n
