Julian Alvarez remains a player of interest to Arsenal<\/a> with barely a fortnight remaining before this summer transfer window<\/a> closes at 11pm on September 1.<\/p>\n Alvarez<\/a>, 26, did not feature for Atletico Madrid<\/a> in their La Liga opener against Malaga on Thursday night. They won 2-0 in his absence, and their head coach, Diego Simeone<\/a>, acknowledged in his pre-match press conference<\/a> that the Argentina international was “not in condition to play in this match”.<\/p>\n Barcelona<\/a> and Real Madrid<\/a> have also been credited with an interest in Alvarez since the end of last season. Below is a round-up of the latest…<\/p>\n Alvarez ‘open to Arsenal’<\/p>\n Spanish sports journalist Pedro Morata<\/a> claims that Alvarez will decide today (Friday) whether to negotiate with Arsenal or stay at Atletico. The Gunners have apparently offered \u00a3103million (\u20ac120million) plus \u00a34million (\u20ac5million) for Alvarez, but his employers are said to have requested \u00a3129million (\u20ac150million).<\/p>\n It is said that the former Manchester City<\/a> forward is open to joining Arsenal. That is despite having many doubts and not wanting to return to England.<\/p>\n Morata claims the situation is 55 per cent in favour of staying at Atletico, with the remaining 45 per cent reflecting his openness to the north London club. However, these reports conflict with what Morata has said, with the Catalan publication stating that the striker has allegedly turned down any move to north London.<\/p>\n They are also apparently open to doing business with Arsenal because they would be keen on replacing the Argentine with Viktor Gyokeres<\/a>. It is said that Atletico acknowledge the situation with Alvarez is becoming unsustainable, hence this softening of their stance.<\/p>\n MD, however, make clear that he continues to veto any move that is not Barcelona.
