{"id":74099,"date":"2026-08-22T07:09:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T07:09:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/74099\/"},"modified":"2026-08-22T07:09:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T07:09:11","slug":"barcelona-priority-targets-agent-sends-brutal-message-amid-problems-with-current-club-never-ask-a-liar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/74099\/","title":{"rendered":"Barcelona priority target&#8217;s agent sends brutal message amid problems with current club: \u2018Never ask a liar\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The growing tension surrounding Julian\u00a0 Alvarez\u2019s future has now spilled into the public eye, with the\u00a0 Atletico Madrid star\u2019s agent responding directly to criticism from the club\u2019s chief executive, Miguel Angel Gil Marin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latest twist in the Julian\u00a0 Alvarez transfer saga came after Gil Marin questioned the people advising the Argentine forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Within hours,\u00a0 Alvarez\u2019s agent Fernando Hidalgo posted a cryptic but pointed message on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/barcelona-prepared-to-hold-out-until-deadline-day-for-top-target-were-still-waiting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Barcelona remain closely linked<\/a> with the 26-year-old, who has made it clear that he wants a new challenge and sees a move to the Catalan giants as his preferred destination.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With\u00a0 Atletico continuing to stand firm, however, the situation is now developing into an increasingly public confrontation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Alvarez\u2019s future turns into a public battle<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The pressure surrounding\u00a0 Alvarez\u2019s Atletico Madrid future has been building since the striker expressed his desire to leave during the 2026 World Cup, with Barcelona emerging as the <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/julian-alvarez-only-wants-barcelona-despite-arsenal-opening-talks-with-atletico-madrid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">player\u2019s dream destination<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Catalan club\u2019s interest has not remained purely speculative either, with Joan Laporta confirming that <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/joan-laporta-confirms-barcelona-bid-for-julian-alvarez-and-issues-strong-warning-to-atletico-madrid-offer-is-not-valid-forever\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Barcelona made a formal offer<\/a> for the Argentine international.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0Atletico, however, have refused to soften their position.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alvarez remains under contract until 2030, while the club has pointed towards his enormous \u20ac500 million release clause.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"715\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/real-sociedad-v-atletico-de-madrid-copa-del-rey-final-2-1024x715.jpg\" alt=\"Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid\" class=\"wp-image-206227\"  \/>Atletico Madrid are reluctant to sell Julian Alvarez. (Photo by Fran Santiago\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The situation has also become sensitive because Atletico believe outside pressure is playing a role in the growing transfer noise around their striker.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/atletico-madrid-ceo-fires-shots-at-barcelona-over-julian-alvarez-pursuit-they-wanted-to-divide-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Gil Marin addressed that issue<\/a> directly while discussing Alvarez\u2019s future, saying,<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe must understand that Juli\u00e1n has not had the best advisers around him regarding his professional career in recent months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Atletico CEO also insisted that the club would continue to support their forward, explaining:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re going to help Julian and we\u2019re going to continue looking after him\u2026 because we need him to keep competing amongst Europe\u2019s elite\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hs comments were followed by a warning aimed at those attempting to influence\u00a0 Atletico\u2019s sporting decisions:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe cannot allow other clubs and their affiliated media to decide what we have to do, dictate our sporting strategy and show us disrespect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fernando Hidalgo sends clear response to\u00a0 Atletico<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fernando Hidalgo did not mention Gil Marin by name, but his response on social media came just hours after the\u00a0 Atletico CEO\u2019s comments.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"607\" height=\"1013\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/6a88bc864aa53.jpg\" alt=\"Julian Alvarez agent's Instagram story\" class=\"wp-image-210070\"  \/>Julian Alvarez\u2019s agent has appeared to have hit back at Atletico Madrid. (Source: Instagram)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The agent shared an image on Instagram containing the message,<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNever ask a liar why he lied.
