MADRID – Shirley P. Watson, age 94, formerly of Madrid, NY, passed away early Monday, August 24, 2026, at Plattsburgh Rehab & Nursing Center, surrounded by family. Friends and family can attend calling hours on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 1:00 pm until the time of the services at 3:00 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, Madrid, with Pastor Bentley McQuinn officiating. Burial will be held in Madrid Cemetery immediately following funeral services.<\/p>\n

Shirley was born on February 19, 1932, in Waddington, NY, to Charles and Florence (Alquire) Packard.<\/p>\n

Shirley graduated from Madrid High School and attended Watertown Business School, after graduating. She married Donald A. Watson on April 12, 1952, in Madrid, he predeceased her in 2012.<\/p>\n

Shirley worked aside her husband operating Watson Chevrolet in Malone, NY, until she retired in 1993. She enjoyed doing needlework, knitting, and quilting and sewing for her grandchildren, she enjoyed the outdoors, planting flowers, and in her later years, she also enjoyed doing puzzles. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her family and friends and her four-legged pets, two poodles and a feline companion that predeceased her. She was also member of the Malone Moose Lodge.<\/p>\n

Shirley is survived by four sons; Terrance and Cindy Watson of Malone, NY, Wayne and Barbara Watson of Malone, NY, Douglas and Becky Watson of Westville, NY, Scott and Lisa Watson of Reno Nevada, and a daughter Susan and Thomas Sorrell of Chateaugay, NY. Also surviving Shirley are her 13 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased a brother, Donald C. Packard and two sisters, Alice \u201cNoreen\u201d Brander, and Eleanor O\u2019Neil, and a sister in-law, Marjorie Heck.<\/p>\n
