Fly2Galicia is expected to launch with services to eight destinations across Spain and Europe from its base at Rosalia de Castro Airport in Santiago de Compostela, northwestern Spain.<\/p>\n

The new budget carrier is due to launch on 1 December, operating from Santiago de Compostela\u2019s Rosalia de Castro Airport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fly2Galicia\u2019s wet lease agreement<\/p>\n

Initially, at least, Fly2Galicia will not operate the flights itself. Instead, according to Hosteltur<\/a>, Romanian company FLYYO will operate the flights under a wet-lease agreement. Aviation & Mobility Services Group, which markets the services under the Fly2Galicia brand, will sell the tickets and develop the planned routes within Galicia.<\/p>\n

The destinations currently offered on the airline\u2019s website include Alicante, Granada and Zaragoza in Spain, Brussels in Belgium, Milan and Venice in Italy, Munich in Germany and Prague in the Czech Republic. Fares are expected to start as low as \u20ac21.50.<\/p>\n

Enhanced air connectivity from Galicia to Europe<\/p>\n

According to the airline\u2019s website, Fly2Galicia was created to enhance Galicia\u2019s air connectivity, \u201caddressing a long-standing need: providing more direct connections from Galicia to Europe\u2019s main business and tourism centres.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to improving regional air connectivity, attracting international tourism, and facilitating business travel, Fly2Galicia is also expected to support the region\u2019s economy by generating direct and indirect employment.<\/p>\n

Why Fly2Galicia\u2019s launch before the end of 2026 matters<\/p>\n

The launch coincides with 2027\u2019s Holy Year, which is expected to draw more pilgrims to Camino de Santiago than ever before. <\/p>\n

It also follows the Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air\u2019s <\/a>announcement that it will start serving Santiago from Rome, Italy, and Warsaw, Poland, this December. In a move that will see the Spanish carrier go head-to-head with Wizz Air, the Hungarian carrier is also expected to open a permanent base at the airport in February 2027. Having a base there will enable Wizz Air to deliver additional connectivity to Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Zaragoza.<\/p>\n

Low-cost boost for Santiago\u2019s Rosalia de Castro Airport<\/p>\n

Operated by the Spanish airport authority Aena,<\/a> Santiago-Rosalia de Castro Airport is located about 10km northeast of Santiago de Compostela and serves a large catchment area across Galicia.<\/p>\n

In 2025, the airport handled just over 3 million passengers, including around 592,000 international passengers. It recorded around 25,000 aircraft movements. In 2011, the airport was significantly expanded with a new terminal, car park, aircraft apron and control tower. The upgrade was designed to accommodate traffic growth of up to five million passengers a year.<\/p>\n

Aena describes the airport as an administrative, university, research and services hub, with 28 destinations currently served by nine airlines. Carriers serving the airport include Vueling<\/a>, Iberia<\/a>, easyJet<\/a>, KLM,<\/a> Lufthansa<\/a> and Aer Lingus<\/a>. Fly2Galicia\u2019s proposed network will add several European and Spanish city links, such as Munich, Prague and Venice, that aren\u2019t currently served directly from Santiago.<\/p>\n
