{"id":76794,"date":"2026-08-27T19:28:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T19:28:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/76794\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T19:28:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T19:28:14","slug":"irish-woman-and-husband-found-dead-in-hot-tub-in-spain-named","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/76794\/","title":{"rendered":"Irish woman and husband found dead in hot tub in Spain named"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AN IRISH WOMAN and her New Zealand husband who were found dead at a holiday property in Spain have been named.<\/p>\n<p>Tomasina McArdle, who was from Co Monaghan, and Patrick Tobin, a New Zealand citizen, were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejournal.ie\/irish-couple-found-dead-by-their-children-in-spain-7142219-Aug2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">found dead in a jacuzzi at a rented property in Cullera<\/a>, near Valencia, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Their two teenage children discovered their bodies and raised the alarm.<\/p>\n<p>Spanish police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths, although foul play is not currently suspected.<\/p>\n<p>Postmortem examinations are expected to help investigators establish how the couple died.<\/p>\n<p>The Valencia Civil Guard initially said that both of those who died were Irish but has since clarified that Tomasina McArdle was an Irish national, while Patrick Tobin was from New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>Tobin was a New Zealand citizen and did not hold an Irish passport.
