{"id":76828,"date":"2026-08-27T21:07:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T21:07:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/76828\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T21:07:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T21:07:09","slug":"six-flags-x2-coaster-closed-after-riders-suffer-brain-injuries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/spain\/76828\/","title":{"rendered":"Six Flags X2 Coaster Closed After Riders Suffer Brain Injuries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tA popular roller coaster at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/six-flags\/\" id=\"auto-tag_six-flags\" data-tag=\"six-flags\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Six Flags<\/a> Magic Mountain has been closed since July 12 after two riders suffered similar brain hemorrhages.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/08\/27\/us\/six-flags-rollercoaster-brain-injury-invs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">According to a CNN investigation<\/a>, two women who rode the X2 coaster six days apart both lost consciousness and ended up in surgery with similar brain hemorrhages of a type that\u2019s \u201ctypically associated with high-speed collisions.\u201d Three neurosurgeons who treated the women declared in an email, \u201cthe severe brain injuries requiring emergent neurosurgical attention were the result of a traumatic rapid acceleration-deceleration event experienced while on the X2 ride.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe second of the two riders is currently in a coma, and Six Flags reportedly has only offered her food from McDonald\u2019s. Her father told the network that whoever decided to keep X2 open after the first July injury case \u201chas a lot to answer for,\u201d and declared, \u201cIt\u2019s got to stop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tFurthermore, CNN uncovered a long history of injuries associated with the ride, claiming there have been more than a dozen reports of injuries and hospitalizations related to X2, and two of the cases were fatal (both riders were in their twenties and perished from brain injuries, though one had a preexisting brain abnormality). In addition, unearthed Six Flags records listed at least 70 head and neck injury complaints between 2019 and 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tX2 is high-speed \u201c4D\u201d coaster with near-vertical drops and independently rotating seats which flip riders around. The ride is considered much-loved among hardcore coaster fans and it was voted \u201cCoaster of the Year\u201d when it first opened in 2002 (watch a point-of-view video of the ride below). <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSix Flags <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/08\/27\/us\/six-flags-rollercoaster-brain-injury-invs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">has defended<\/a> the coaster by pointing out there is signage warning customers \u201cthere are inherent risks\u201d in park rides and that X2 is regularly tested and meets industry safety regulations. The company\u2019s attorneys have argued that forces generated by the ride are not strong enough to cause a brain injury in a \u201cnormal\u201d rider if the ride is used \u201cas instructed\u201d (in at least one case, the park\u2019s attorneys said a rider\u2019s injury was due to her negligence).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe park is declining to answer inquires about the July injuries.
