After establishing himself as one of Liverpool\u2019s most promising young players in the final years of J\u00fcrgen Klopp\u2019s tenure at the club, the past two seasons haven\u2019t gone to plan for 23-year-old Harvey Elliott. Injury issues kept his role limited in Arne Slot\u2019s first season at the club, and even when fit Slot never seemed to fully trust him.<\/p>\n

That led to a loan move to Aston Villa last season, but a mandatory purchase clause triggered if he played in ten games for the Birmingham club soon led to him being frozen out entirely when they decided Elliott didn\u2019t have a long-term future there. This summer, he returned to the Reds hoping to impress new head coach Andoni Iraola.<\/p>\n

Now, reports from multiple sources including The Athletic\u2019s James Pearce<\/a> have him potentially joining Valencia in La Liga on loan for the 2026-27 season, with the payer said to have held promising discussions with manager Carlos Corber\u00e1n about what his role would be for the Spanish side as he looks to get himself back on track<\/p>\n

Of particular note is that despite widespread reports Elliott\u2019s Liverpool contract expires in 2027, there is now the suggestion it in fact runs through summer of 2028\u2014meaning a departure on loan might not signal the end of his time in Red.
