FC Barcelona playmaker Dani Olmo enjoyed a special day in Terrassa on Wednesday as his hometown celebrated Spain\u2019s success at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n

The Barcelona star was given a hero\u2019s welcome and proudly accepted the tribute before speaking to the media. <\/p>\n

Among the topics he addressed was Julian Alvarez\u2019s failed move to Barcelona<\/a> and Atletico Madrid\u2019s refusal to negotiate with the Catalan club despite the player\u2019s insistence on wanting to leave.<\/p>\n

Olmo does not understand Atletico stance<\/p>\n

Olmo was quick to praise the Argentine striker, while questioning the Rojiblancos\u2019 stance on the whole matter. <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cJulian is a great player, a great \u20189\u2019, one of the best in the world without a doubt, but that\u2019s football,\u201d\u00a0he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnderstand it? I don\u2019t. In the end, we all have our dreams. I think Juli\u00e1n was also clear about that,\u201d the Barcelona star added.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe fought for his dreams, but ultimately there are also other external situations that one can\u2019t control. In that sense, that was one of them, it goes without saying. But life goes on. This doesn\u2019t stop.\u201d <\/p>\n

Aiming high<\/p>\n

Despite missing out on Alvarez, Olmo believes Barcelona have enough quality to compete on every front.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe personally expect a very good year, for sure, with a lot of competition, because the other clubs have also strengthened their squads very well, but I think we have more than enough talent to compete,\u201d\u00a0Olmo noted.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead to the new campaign, Olmo outlined Barcelona\u2019s priorities: continuing to win all titles.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are new objectives: to keep winning, to keep defending the League, Cup, and Super Cup titles,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

However, there is one trophy that stands above the rest for him and Bar\u00e7a, as he said: \u201cWe want to go for the Champions League, for which we have more than enough team.\u201d <\/p>\n

Olmo understands Barcelona\u2019s decision over the World Cup tribute<\/p>\n

Olmo was also asked about Barcelona\u2019s decision not to hold a tribute at Spotify Camp Nou for the World Cup winners.<\/p>\n

The club had cancelled the planned recognition following the violent arrest of a supporter in Elche, and Olmo said the players respected the decision. <\/p>\n

\u201cIn the end, the club decided it wasn\u2019t the best time to do it.\u00a0\u00a0We, as players, respected that decision. We know the club fully values \u200b\u200bthe World Cup we won,\u201d the playmaker said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey felt it wasn\u2019t the perfect setting after everything that had happened. In the end, it\u2019s respectable, it\u2019s no big deal,\u201d<\/p>\n

Another battle with Real Madrid<\/p>\n

Olmo also looked ahead to another season of rivalry with Real Madrid. He acknowledged that their rivals have strengthened significantly, but believes Barcelona are equally determined to compete for every trophy. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always been like this. Real Madrid is a team that has strengthened very well, with great players. And so have we. In the end, the goal for both of us is to win everything,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Barcelona have enjoyed two highly successful years domestically, but Olmo insists the next step is to make their mark in Europe. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe will fight for what we have, as we always have. We\u2019ve had two very successful years at the national level and now we want to achieve European success as well. That\u2019s our objective.\u201d <\/p>\n
