Workers at Concentrix in Spain will take the call centre giant to court after failing to reach an agreement over a second round of layoffs in August, which led to another 74 employees losing their jobs.<\/p>\n
The new round of cuts comes only weeks after a first collective redundancy procedure that ended in 80 dismissals at its A Coru\u00f1a site in July, as part of the company\u2019s redundancy plan to layoff around 160 employees \u2013 out of 380 \u2013 at the site in Galicia.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Workers, represented by UNI Global Union\u2019s Spanish affiliates CC.OO, UGT and others, had sought an agreement on decent terms, but they said the company, which provides services for Microsoft among others, did not provide the documentation required to justify the layoffs and only offered the legal minimum redundancy package \u2013 unlike the better terms negotiated by the Concentrix works council for the previous dismissals. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Furthermore, in a joint statement issued on 27 August 2026, workers said that an auditor hired by Concentrix confirmed that it was in a strong financial position to allow it to increase its redundancy offer and considered that it was feasible to relocate some of the affected employees.<\/p>\n
However, Concentrix will apply the minimum compensation set by law for collective dismissals \u2013 20 days\u2019 pay per year of service, capped at 12 months\u2019 salary \u2013 and will proceed with the terminations. The works council has not accepted the outcome of the process and intends to appeal the workforce reduction plan (known in Spain as an ERE) before the courts.<\/p>\n
