Trump\u2019s remarks came as Spain continued to deal with the fallout from a major migrant surge from Morocco into Ceuta, while questions remained over the role of Moroccan security forces in the episode.<\/p>\n
Trump had already criticised Spain over the migrant crisis in his comments to British television channel GB News.<\/p>\n
He had described what had happened in Spain as \u201can outrage” and warned that the consequences could extend beyond the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s happened with Spain is an outrage,” Trump said, according to AFP.<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cWhen I look at it, it\u2019s so sad. It\u2019s going to ruin the whole country. It\u2019s going to ruin the system.”<\/p>\n
Trump further argued that migrants entering Spain would move onward into other European countries.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd it will destroy Europe because once they\u2019re in Spain, they\u2019re going to not stop in Spain,” he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re going to pour into your country and every other country, but they already are pouring into your country.”<\/p>\n
Spain Rejects Claims Of Moroccan Role<\/p>\n
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has said there is no \u201csolid proof” that Morocco orchestrated the migrant influx into Ceuta.<\/p>\n
According to AFP, Sanchez told parliament that no police, legal or international institution had provided the Spanish government with evidence that Morocco had planned or carried out the incident.<\/p>\n
His comments came after a Spanish police report raised questions over the response of Moroccan security forces.<\/p>\n
The report, seen by AFP, described the Moroccan police response as one of \u201ctotal permissiveness” and said it had facilitated the rush.<\/p>\n
It alleged that Moroccan police numbers around the border post were \u201cclearly smaller than usual” and that officers had made \u201cno serious attempt” to stop the surge.<\/p>\n
Morocco has denied any relaxation at the land border crossing, while its interior ministry attributed the sudden influx to the \u201cmalicious exploitation” of social media and the spread of misleading information.<\/p>\n
Ceuta Dispute Adds To Tensions<\/p>\n
The migrant crisis has also unfolded against tensions between Spain and Morocco over Ceuta and Melilla.<\/p>\n
Sanchez slammed what he called \u201cunacceptable” comments by Moroccan government ministers concerning the two Spanish territories.<\/p>\n
Moroccan Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi was quoted by Moroccan media as saying Rabat had \u201chistoric” and \u201cgeographical” rights over Ceuta and Melilla and calling for a \u201cfinal solution” that would allow the territories to return to Morocco.<\/p>\n
Sanchez, however, said the territories would remain Spanish \u201cuntil the end of time.”<\/p>\n
Europe Moves Towards \u2018Return Hubs\u2019<\/p>\n
The European migration debate has also intensified.<\/p>\n
