Between January and June 2026, they supplied 1.4 million tons valued at 2,230 million euros, a 7% increase in both volume and value compared with the same months last year.

Within this group, Morocco remains the top supplier by value and volume. Spanish imports from Morocco totaled 950 million euros, up 6% from the first half of 2025, and 351,118 tons, down 7%.

Peru followed with 289 million euros and 150,622 tons, and Costa Rica with 182 million euros and 224,725 tons. Costa Rica ranks second by volume, after Morocco.

Other outstanding non-EU suppliers were Brazil, with 121 million euros and 97,484 tons; Chile, with 107 million euros and 58,313 tons; and Egypt, with over 107,000 tons and 60 million euros.

In the first half of 2026, Spain imported 1.18 million tons from EU Member States, a 7% increase over the same period in 2025. Despite the higher volume, the total value fell 2.6% to 856 million euros. The EU accounted for 46% of the imported volume and 28% of the total value.

Within the EU, France strengthened its position as the primary source of Spanish imports, with 657,918 tons, accounting for more than half the volume imported from the Union. In value terms, purchases from France totaled 211.5 million euros.

The Netherlands followed with 149,003 tons and 142.6 million euros, and Portugal with 138,094 tons and 194.3 million euros. Italy also played a significant role, with nearly 100,000 tons and 135.8 million euros.

More than 72% of import value now comes from non-EU countries, highlighting the increasing role of non-EU suppliers in Spain’s market. Fepex states that this trend underscores the need for the EU’s trade policy to protect the competitiveness of its agricultural sector and to include the principle of reciprocity in trade agreements with third countries.

For more information: www.fepex.es

In the first half of 2026, Spain imported 2.5 million tons of fruits and vegetables valued at…

[2
17
post-82049","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-spain","tag-spain
["GET
